Hi Catelin
I had a ligation and resection, which I guess was the same as a fimbriectomy reversal. I had my TR in Feb and I ended up with lengths of 7 on my right and 8 on my left.

I am 100% sure that I am lucky, but when I was reading all of the reports and postings before my surgery, I felt helpless and scared too.

Keep in mind, you are in wonderful hands. Good luck to you. I hope everything goes well.
By the way, I am having my first "O". Hopefull soon I will be feeling out a pregnancy report. And I will make sure to list what type of TL I had.
Best,
Donnell

Hi, Catelin. The pregnancy report might not list it as fimbriectomy. It could be listed as a ligation and resection, but we have definitely had many patients with this procedure. Pregnancy rates following repair are around 30%.

I had my tubes tied almost 4 years ago and now require a fimbriectomy reversal. Im excited about the possibility of becoming pregnant again but also feeling a litte discouraged that I will become pregnant again. I haven't had the surgery done yet but I hear so many positive things about Dr. Berger. I was looking to see if anyone had a successful pregnancy following a fimbriectomy and if so how long it took to become pregnant again.

Hi Catelin, I just had my surgery with Dr. Berger on Dec 2nd 2005, and I had fimbriectomy reversal. I was only left with lengths of 2 and 4 cm. So far no BFP, but its only been three months. I had hoped for longer tubes, but alas, my dr was somewhat ambitious with the knife... :)Sometimes on the weekly pg reports it dosent always say fimbriectomy was involved, but I saw on here a woman with one tube that was fimbriectomy repair and she was pg, as well as some other short tubers with fimbriectomy. I am currently emailing someone who has the same procedure,(not dr b patient though) and she has a 2 year old TR baby.So...It can and does happen! Im hoping for my own sake that I am one of them! keep your chin up and I say go for it! although I confess sometimes I feel as though it will never happen for me and I wasted my money etc...I know God is still in control and I am just leaving it to him! lets keep in touch since we are in the same boat! [Smile]
also, (nurses correct me if im wrong here lol) i dont think tube length is as important with fimbriectomy reversal...dr b said no studies have been done corelating tube lenght with bfp in fimbriectomies...just a thought...

Catelin,

I didn't think that at all - I was hoping what I said didn't come off that way. HAHA!!! I am the world's worst at coming across wrong, so I wanted to make sure I didn't sound like Dr. B was in it for the money or to make himself look good. I think he's the BEST and I think we're both in good hands and going to great. Sorry if I came out wrong. [Smile] I just didn't want anyone to think I was saying he'll only do surgeries that inflate himself - or would dare take on surgeries he thought he couldn't do just for the money. I know he isn't that way. I just think that he knows the mental anguish we go through and he has given his life to let us produce life. Go girl! Don't be scared!!!! At least you'll KNOW. Let us know what happens.

Dr. Berger performed a microsurgical salpingostomy on me. The doctor who performed my TL removed my right fimbria and Dr. Berger was able to fix mine. I am not PG yet, and although both my tubes ended up with blockage, my RE was able to remove the scar tissue from my right tube and I am now in the process of taking Bravelle to help produce more follicles so that I am able to catch, hopefully, at least one egg.

You are in good hands with Dr. Berger. I have all faith in him. Don't worry, if he is not able to fix it, he'll let you know. Are you opting for the laparoscopy just in case? That would be wise if you are not sure of the condition of your tubes. Good luck and keep us posted.

Catelin,
The tubal repair for a fimbriectomy is called salpingosotmy. Here is the link to the page on our web site that explains this procedure. The illustrations are wonderful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email or call.

I did not mean it at all like that, Polly. I'm sorry if I was misunderstood.

I know I will be in EXCELLENT hands with Dr. Berger - that's why I chose him.

I think I am just feeling a little (a lot) nervous, and I have talked to one other person on here whom had a fimbriectomy reversal but It just seems like we are the only 2. I am sure there are a lot more; maybe they just don't post messages.

Caitlin. Don't give up hope. From what I understand Dr. B can fix just about anything...in fact I am counting on it.I think we all go through the ups and downs before and after the surgery.
I am opting for the Laproscopic procedure since I do not know what they did to my tubes. I know if Dr. B can not fix my tubes I will then get back a substantial amount of my money.

I am not sure what the outcome may be, but I do know that Dr. Berger would be straight up if he thought he couldn't do it. I have read on here about one woman who had to have her fimbria (sp) reconstructed and she was fine. It wasn't too long ago. Maybe you can search through the postings and find it. I cannot remember if she's pregnant now or not, but she was repaired. I hope that gives you some encouragement. Also, I know this may sound bad, but I do not mean it as a slight in the least. Dr. Berger wants to help us all, but he also wants to succeed himself. He isn't going to set himself up for something he knows is impossible before he goes into it. I think for starters, he knows the emotional trauma that would cause but I also think it would hurt his stats too. I know he doesn't do this to boost himself, but he does have to look out for his reputation too. I think you'll do great. Good luck. Please let us know.

P.S. I don't mean any of this bad - I just mean that Dr. Berger wouldn't try to do the surgery just for the money if he thought he couldn't do it. Does that make any sense?

I read most of the PG reports that are posted here and I see none with a fimbriectomy reversal, has anyone had success with this?

I read these posts everyday faithfully, and the more I read the more I am starting to feel hopeless about the surgury on march 31st, I never hear of anyone PG with a fimbriectomy reversal. I am starting to get my hopes up and didnt even have the surgury yet [Confused] [Frown]
