Tina - Talk to your doctor about your symptoms and request those tests. These 3 tests I mentioned are the ones Dr. Berger recommended I have. They are used for both fertility work-ups and to assess disorders of menstruation so if you are having symptoms then it seems that these tests would be reasonable as part of a diagnostic assessment of your gynecologic/reproductive health. You will then have a much better and more realistic picture of what may be going on with you. If your doctor balks at such a reasonable and basic request..find one who listens!!

how old are you Brenda? I just turned 36. peri usually occurs from age 45-55 but again everybody is different and I truly don't believe I have that. I'm gonna do what momzilla suggests and get my levels tested.

I don't believe I'm in peri-menopuse. I don't have hot flashes and night sweats which are symptoms and no I haven't had my levels checked. How do I go about doing that?

Tina - How old are you? Have you had your FSH, Estradiol and Progesterone levels tested? Hormone level resuls, to me, are a better indicator of what is going on with you reproductively an MD who just "thinks" you are in peri menopause...As we know...they are not always correct or up to speed on this stuff..Think also about the stories you may have heard from folks about their mother's "change of life babies", etc. As we age it does get harder to conceive and the hormones change but it only takes ONE die hard EGG and a one equally motivated sperm...please do not let anyone assess your reprodcutive status without accurate testing..All it does it make the doctor look silly and stress you out without cause...Like I said my dcotor "guessed" and was wrong about me..and I am 43..

This is wht peri-menopause is. Does that mean that if I am in peri I can't conceive???
What is peri-menopause? Peri-menopause is the period of time between pre- and post-menopause. Symptoms of peri-menopause vary from woman to woman. The most common symptoms are hot flashes, insomnia, irregular periods, mood swings, and fatigue. During the stages of peri-menopause changes take place in the balance of hormones that regulate and control your monthly menstrual cycle. This slow change in ovary cycle can start between two to ten years before your final menstrual period.
