Sandra, I had my TL back in 1/2001 with the birth of our daughter. Shortly after my TL, I had a huge drop in libido. I absolutely had no interest at all. That continued for 7 years. That really does put a strain on a marriage. My husband couldn't understand why I didn't want to have relations with him, and I couldn't really understand either. I had many anxiety attacks throughout those 7 years also. My doctor put me on medication for it, but I didn't stay on it long, because I didn't want to have to depend on it to feel "normal". I fought depression on and off, and also gained 35 pounds with that. My family never knew what kind of mood they would find me in, and I feel terrible that they had to go through that! My periods were awful. They usually lasted about 7 days, and the first 2 days of it, I would not leave the house...it seemed as if I was on the verge of hemmoraging. Always very heavy with a lot of large clots. Had terrible PMS...bad bloating, sore breasts, acne, and mood swings. About 3 years ago, my husband and I started talking about wanting another child...I researched quite a bit, and found Dr. Berger's site. Started reading the message boards, and couldn't believe how many women had the same problems! I finally realized what my problems were, and that I wasn't CRAZY!! We finally were able to save the money and schedule with Dr. Berger. I had my TR on 5/15/08, and I already feel like a new person!! I have had my period since then...no PMS and very light...3 days of very light to medium flow. My libido is back full force...we feel like newlyweds again!! It is 4 weeks today...I have more energy, have got back into a normal exercise routine, and just have a new outlook! My husband is glad to have his old wife back, and the kids have also noticed a difference, they just don't know why!! Any more questions, just ask...I'll be happy to answer!! Thanks!! ~Shannon

Dear Ms. Wilson It was not until I researched TR for other reasons that I figured out I had PTLS. I had been told by woman after woman that I was just going through the change, which I never believed, my mom went through menopause in her fifties and my two older sisters haven't been through it yet. With the birth of our child in 2002 I had TL. I immediately noticed loss of libido. Then the migraines began with every menstrual cycle and often with ovulation. I had never had a migraine before TL. I noticed anxiety off the charts starting a few days before my period, almost debilitating to the point where I didn't want to leave the house. The anxiety would leave within hours of my period starting. I also have gained forty pounds since TL cannot exercise or diet it off. My Dr told me it was late onset food allergies and I had to do an elimination diet. No wheat, eggs, sugar, peanut butter, bananas... ridiculous. I have never been this heavy in my life. I don't recognize my own body. It has crushed my self esteem. And lastly the periods, longer, harder, clotting, painful, absurd uncontrollable bleeding. Everyone recommended ablation. Thankfully I didn't listen. And now for the good news. TR just eight days ago and already I have a sex drive like before TL. I cannot believe it! I feel sexually like I used to and that is nothing short of a miracle. The stress of no libido is enormous on a marriage! I will keep you posted on other changes I encounter. This is a good thing to study. And every time woman talk to me about their terrible periods or their migraines or anxiety I will now ask politely, "Have you had tubal ligation?" Thanks for studying this. Write me if I can be of help. Skate

Hello, ladies. I have been lurking here for a little while and reading your posts. I work for Dr. Berger writing web articles among other things.
As I researched ptls, I was quite frankly appalled at what I learned. I have written a few articles about it but would really like to put a "face" to the information. To that end, I would appreciate learning your stories about ptls.
I need to know what symptoms you have suffered, how soon after your tubal they began, when you first realized what was happening, and how your doctors responded to your complaints. Even how it affected your home life, lifestyle and relationships.
For those who have already had a tr, I would appreciate knowing what, if any, relief you have had. I would also appreciate knowing your true feelings about how Dr. Berger and his staff responded to your complaints of ptls symptoms. How did they treat you? Granted, since I work for Dr. Berger, I will not use anything that is very derogatory.
I do not intend to use any real names (as if I could with forum nicknames <g>), but might say something along the lines of "Amy B. said" or "misbehavin' posted" if that is alright with you. I will only use stories added to this thread as direct quotes. I could really use about 15-20 stories with as much or as little information as you feel comfortable posting.
If you have any questions that I am legit, please just ask one of Dr. Berger's staff.
I appreciate you taking your time to add to this thread.
