hi~I just am updating to let everyone know,I went for my reversal sept.24th. Dr.Berger is my angel. What's said on these message boards about him is so true.He can repair almost any type of reversal. As awful as mine sounded when i first posted on this blog.(scroll down) He did it! My tube lenghts are 6.5 and 5......I recommend him to anyone wanting this surgery. All the nurses at CHTRC are also angels...I can't thank them enough.

Andrea,
Thank you for your response. Even though I told them to tie clip and burn my tubes, I pray that they only clipped them....

ReeRee8,

Filshie clips fall in the category with the best tubal lengths. I had them, and I have a Rt 8.5 and L 7.0. I got pregnant the very first month TTC.

I believe most women here would say that once you have decided to have the TR, to waste no time in getting it done! As soon as funds are available, schedule! Our fertility decreases by huge amounts after our 20's. Even in our early 30's (like me-31) we are less fertile than we were a few years back.

It's best to give yourself every advantage! You are by no means "old", and with Filshie clips you have a very good chance of a great TR! We generally have enough fertility to become pregnant until menopause! It's just a matter of it declining each year, rapidly after our 20's. I would just suggest getting it done ASAP, rather than waiting a long time.

God Bless and I wish you the best! CH is great!

Hello. I'm fairly new here and reading these message boards have given me courage to pursue hubby's and my desire to have another child, especially when I see a response from Dr Berger himself. I had my tubes tied by 'bilateral tubal ligation with Filshie clips' in August 2006 after a repeat c-section (I've been regretting it since my son was 2mths old). I have a copy of my 'operative notes' and it doesn't say anything about any tube being removed, just about a small right ovary. My question is, Does it matter when you have the reversal? I wish i felt more comfortable doing it sooner, but I want to have the surgery in December 2009 or January 2010, closer to the time when my husband will be returning (March 2010). I'm not getting any younger (36yrs young on October 22, 37 1/2yrs when he return) and I want to get right down to the business of trying to get pregnant.

ZachxLesley -

Your tubes have been burned at 2 sites. This is not unusual and should leave adequate segments to repair. The omentum in an internal organ of the abdomen that often attaches to sites of prior injury (including operations) and these attachments or adhesions were removed according to your operative report. There is nothing in your report to cause concern or worry.

Dr.Berger~I was wondering if you could read my report that I faxed in ,then get back with me by email at leslhub*aol.com. I'm just getting nervous,I guess cause I really want to have a baby again.Thankyou. I was wondering if you ever have had someone who had this type of surgery and was the end results good.

My report says~ The tubes were grasped and coagulated and separated in two locations . Then the thermo hook was plaved across the omental adhesion with multiple applications ,the adhesion was removed. It sounds so horrible! Whats that mean?

WoW! I am amazed to get a response from Dr.Berger. I can't wait to meet you when I come for my surgery. Can I ask you~Have you done a reversal on this type of ligation? Are the tubal lenghts pretty good or really short? Thankyou so much~You are a true Miracle doctor. LESLEY

Thermal coagulation is burning the tube with heat rather than electrocoagulation (burning the tube with electricity). Often the doctor may cut the tube at the sites of the burns. But they usually do not remove segments to send to pathology after burning them.

Thankyou~everyone who has read and replyed. Just wondering if no tube was removed, then why was it cut it two separate locations? Just wondering.I'm sorry the closer I am getting to my surgery date, the more I want to be prepared.Im just praying this all happens for me and I soon will be able to post on the I'm pregnant board.
Ladies~ If you have had this type of surgery ~let me know if you have had reversal and became pregnant? LESLEY

ZachxLesley - There will not be a pathology report with the Waters Theromocoagulation method since no segment of tube was removed. We have seen excellent tubal lengths remaining in other women who have had this method of sterilization reversed.
