I also had the pomeroy and it's not just the amount that's cut out, you also have to take into consideration the amount of tube that is tied. A section is tied off and then a section in between is cut out and that is the piece that is sent to pathology. My pathology report said 1.5 cm removed on each side, yet there wasn't enough tube remaining on my left side to repair and my right tube is 4 cm. The Dr doing the surgery may may tie off a huge section but only cut out 1 cm. This is something I had no clue about until after I had my TR. Then of course more tube has to be cut during TR to open the ends the tubes and put them back together.

I was the same. Had thought of having another baby many times, but since I had had TL, thought there was no way it could ever happen. Years ago I came across CH site, but didn't have the funds to do TR. I put it out of mind and decided it just wasn't in the cards. Then several months ago I found myself searching again about TR. Once again, I found myself on the CH site. Next thing I know, scheduled surgery and had TR done a couple months later.

Don't get discouraged. If you don't have TR, then there's a 0% chance of ever having a baby. Right? I look at it that way. TR gives me the chance I wouldn't have had otherwise.

You'll get the money. If you're really wanting this done. You'll find a way. Everything will work out and fall into place. Believe me. I've been in your shoes...lol..it all worked out.

Try to not drive yourself crazy during the 'wait'. I know I thought of anything and everything while I waited for surgery. I am sure I covered all of the 'what if's'...lol. DH had to keep turning my negative thoughts into positive thoughts. He's always got the right outlook on things.

I know you are so excited about it all. There's lots of info here on the boards from ladies with experience and ladies who are waiting for TR just like you are.

Thank you and I wish you lots of luck as well. When we first started talking about wishing we could have another child we had no idea this was even possible. Then, when we did find out it was like "oh wonderful lets do it and have a baby" Now the reality of only having about 45% chance of it happening IF everything goes well with surgery and assuming everything is ok with DH is a little daunting and time is ticking as we come up with a way to pay for the surgery. Like I said, I guess patience and faith will get a real workout now. lol But just the possibility is enough to get excited about! I've been cruising the message board for a few weeks now and everyone seems soooo nice and supportive and everyone has nothing but good to say about CH so that is comforting.

I understand the regret all too well. It's (TL) the worst decision I ever made, sadly. I'm 35 and had my TR October 3. So, DH and I have only been TTC for a few months now.

If you've read much on the boards, etc. you know that this is indeed a journey of unknowns and 'variables', as you said.

I wish you lots of luck in it all. You have come to the right place. CH was great! Dr. M and all the staff were so good to DH and I during our stay and TR. So, don't be nervous. I know that's easy to say for me, but everyone at CH truly were great. It's normal to be nervous. Once you walk in all that leaves. They really made me comfortable and all nervousness quickly left.

Thanks for the reply. I had the Pomeroy as well. I had thought there must be more taken out or everyone would have much longer tubes. So many unknown variables in this journey, but it will be worth it in the end. I guess it will build patience and faith. I'm 39 1/2 so a little nervous about the whole thing. We still have to save the money for it as well. I really regret that decision to get the TL as everyone else here does.

BTW, I had about 2 cm, I believe take during TL. I had the Pomeroy Procedure. After TR, I was left with 4.75 and 5 for my tube lengths.

I believe so, they have to cut out where the ligation was done--any damaged tube, etc. That's why there are so many different lengths after TR. As you probably know, depending on the type of TL, the lengths after TR can vary greatly from one woman to another.

I have a question regarding tubal lengths. I got my postoperative TL report and it said that I had 1.8 cm taken from one side and 2 cm from the other. The normal before TL length is 10 cm right? Do you lose more length when you have TR?
