Not everyone has this option but it's something that added up quickly. I had $20 taken out of my paycheck (when I was working) and have it automatically deposited in my youngest DD's savings account. This way part of what is paid for her child support was going into something tangible she could use later. It added up FAST even if it wasnt a whole lot. Since it automatically came out of my check, then it didnt seem like I was missing it. Of course, you prob wouldnt be using your CS for a TR, but just the thought of having some automatically taken from your paycheck (even if it's $10), it does add up and could be used towards what you are saving. [Smile] Just a thought!

The loose change idea is really good. I have this old can that we throw our loose change into and when we went on vacation this year I told my boys that we would cash it in before we went and that (I figured it was probably about $80.00) would be money they could play on. So we loaded up and went to the bank and as the girl was pouring it into the machine it kept going and going and going. I was shocked as she walked to the counter and said your total was $245.00. My boys eyes quickly widened and I had to try and explain that they couldn't play on the whole $245.00. LOL! It adds up fast. We have already started a new can for our TR fund. However, I am considering charging my husband $ everytime he wants to BD. We will either save up for the TR real fast or I will get a break. [Wink]

I like the two dollar BD! We would be millionaires! LOL [Smile]

Someone mentioned the loose change. I have to tell you that my ex-husband would save ALL his loose change and he saved it up long enough he got to buy a used car. It takes some kind of determination to do that. I think it's a good idea.

I made the decision to hand my extra cash over to my husband so I wouldnt spend it. My situation is different and the money came at a strange time. All I can tell you that God will make a way even if it's not easy. Lots of luck to you, hang in there.

Ezra the $2.00 for BD that is funny but yet a good idea... [Big Grin] I would have all my money in a no time if i made DH put money in the savings every time he wanted to BD! LOL You ladies are giving good advice. It does take awhile to save but in the end it will all be worth it. Just focus on little goals at a time. Do away with things you can live without and also eating out, etc. That will save a good bit each month. Good Luck on your journeys.

It's funny reading your story,my husband sold his truck that he wanted to fix up, I had a yard sell and sold my kitchen table, hutch, clothes heck I even sold some things that weren't for sell but when they asked if it was ALL I could think was "Ezra Fund". So I sold it [Big Grin] ,we made roughly $1,000.00 I was so excited. But my husband needed it for materials for a job.We have a small Tile business. So I save all the change, recycle, even talked DH into putting $2.00 in the jar every time we BD [Razz] . All for a good cause. I now have $50.00 saved and as soon as it is $250 it's flying to CH. [Smile] Good luck to all. I don't know if anyone remembers the Ketchup commercial but said "The best things come to those who wait" I'm waiting!!!Not very patient,But I'm waiting.

Very good advice rebornat33!!! Just hang in there. I've been looking at having my TR done since 2003. I married my DH in 2007 and it seemed like something was always in the way. I prayed and prayed some more.
Things just kind of fell into place for us all within the last two months. So have faith and save save save because it can happen.

Please don't give up. I understand how you feel. I'm turning 40 in July and wondering how on earth to pay for this. I also just got crushed by someone who had promised to loan us the money, had the payment plan all worked out, working on weight loss, started prenatals, and just trying to decide the best time to schedule for. Then it fell through yesterday. I spent the day in tears; still have a headache and puffy eyes. I will NOT give up though. I have saved $80 in about a month and a half by adding money we got for our anniversary gift and believe it or not loose change. I took the advice of someone on here who said pay for everything with dollar bills and save the change. I can't remember who that was, but THANK YOU! We've done that and it's amazing. My kids are donating loose change too as well as my mom. lol We are collecing aluminum cans for when the price goes back up hopefully. We were doing all this to go towards paying the loan back without making another bill, now it will just be saving up for it. It may take a long time but I'm not giving up. There may be tax money in another 7 months that will take care of a chunk of it, my husband is going to sell whatever he can of his car parts and old car he was going to tinker with and fix up (a baby is more important right now) and I am considering trying to make crafts and candles to sell as well as doing bake sales. I am willing to try anything for this and refuse to give up until there is no chance at all left. I know this may sound silly but I have a baby doll my daughter bought for me sitting on my desk to keep me motivated. I also bought little baby shower party favors and sat them around (out of Dollar Tree). They keep me going when I get discouraged and believe me yesterday was hard having it all fall through after being that close. Sometimes, I think God wants to see a little perserverance and steadfastness for what we pray for before He gives it to us. Otherwise, we don't appreciate it the way we should if it came easy for us. We can't make it happen without Him of course, but we can keep on trying to do our part. As soon as we hit the $250 mark, we will send it in and start the pre-payment plan because I think that will sort of "seal the deal" you know? Once it goes in it can't come out. Please don't give up. Don't try to save it all in one lump sum. That's too daunting. Start with the $250 and start the plan. Hang in there and don't give up. Also, once its saved and paid for, we won't have another bill to pay. More money to spend spoiling that baby with! [Wink]

just keep trying to save...trust me we have all been there and have come up with the money somehow....i personally feel like the prepayment plan offered through CHTRC is the best way because you can't touch it so if something comes up then you have to figure out something else u know? good luck and dont give up on ur dream because money is definitely not something that should prevent u from getting the TR

I just contacted my health insurance and it is not covered. [Frown]

Its apparently not meant to be so I am giving up. I keep running into road blocks every direction I take. I had it all worked out to have the TR thru Medchoice (was approved) then the facility stopped accepting it then I applied with the bank and a low interest credit card and they said NO then we have tried to save and something keeps coming up so I guess I'm done. Maybe the money will just fall into my lap one day. Doubtful. [Confused]

Although it may be seen as an infertility related treatment..TL is voluntary sterilization and it is not treated the same as infertility issues that just occur to women. Most plans exclude reversals of sterilizations. You will have to check on your own specific plan to know for sure...but, in most cases TRs are not covered.

I have Meritain and they said it was an uncovered service. We even have an HRA account but they said it was only for covered services that they didn't pay for whatever reason. So we went ahead and started the prepay plan.

We are in the process of moving and selling our house. We hope we get enough extra to cover the surgery, but if we don't then we will continue to save. We have kind of made a game out of it. Every time my husband or myself plan to spend money on something we don't need we put it in the "kitty" instead. That money will then be used for the TR. Also once we have a decent amount of money in the prepay plan we will flex the remainder while planning to use our tax refund for any difference.

Hopefully we will have everything paid for in less then a year. Right now I am using the in between time to start a healthy diet/exercise program so that my body is ready when the time comes to not only have the surgery but then to carry the baby! [celebration]

no, it would more than likely NOT be considered infertility because it was an optional procedure that you had done, but like Ericka said, the best way to find out is ask your insurance company. If it has a website, it will usually specify what would not be considered, like TR

I have been shot down in so many ways trying to arrange this and I am afraid of them saying no they don't cover it. I was just hoping someone would give me hope and say yes I have that and it covered it. Just grasping at straws. Ultimately I know I will have to call and face the music. [Frown]

The best way to know is to contact Meritain and ask if your policy specifically covers a tubal reversal.

I don't have that coverage, but as far as I know it is considered infertility treatments. I am not sure if your policy would cover only IVF, etc. Sorry if this is not a help. Take Care and God Bless!!!
