Thank you for all the replies---I wish you ladies had better news this is very saddening and frightening to me--I never gave an etopic a second thought with my other children although I find out now I'm at a higher risk b/c I've had c-sections sometimes the more you know the worse it is--all I can do is try to be prepared --I wish you all the best and hope that your past misfortunes lead to something wonderful!!!

my doctor was aware of my tubal reversal and the monitoring of the ectopic. he told me my tubes were in great shape and the doctor did a great job putting them back together. He told me the baby was in the uterus. WRONG! Lost my tube and almost died. The doctors were sorry. It was actually more than one doctor that told me that!

I followed the protocol as well...even saw a sac in the uterus.....follow up u/s wasn't scheduled until 2 weeks after the initial one...I made i one week and ruptured.
The sac was a pseudo sac and the baby was in my right tube.

Does anyone know how much the chance for pregnancy decreases after an etopic??? And did anyone have any problems with insurance after a TR ---I would assume ins. will pay for whatever happens after a TR??? hopefully they don't scrutnize and not pay for things because you had a TR

With my 1st ectopic i had PERFECT doubling numbers and went and had blood work every 2 days. I had an ultrasound when my numbers were 1250 and my Dr didnt see anything (my Drs office has a 3d machine)in my tube or uterus that was on a Friday so he was going to have me come back in on Monday morning for another ultrasound but the next day Saturday i was in the hospital with a ruptured right tube.My next ectopic pregnancy in my left tube my numbers didnt double like they should and they caught it in time and i had the shot.(last ectopic was in Dec.) i havent been pregnant since and i know if i do become pregnant again my odds arent good since ive already had an ectopic in my only tube left but i will say even though i didnt end up with a baby in my arms i wouldnt change going to Chapel Hill from Texas it still was worth every penny i spend because im at peace with things and i dont live with the What If's.With everything in life there are risks and sometimes the results suck but sometimes there Perfect.Ive meet alot of people i call friends on this TR Journey and keep in touch with them outside this board and most of them did get there Baby Blessing so i know im meant for other things now and im sure within the next 5yrs or so ill have Grandkids to SPOIL

Aj not to freak you out. I did do the early monitoring. I went for blood draws every two to three days. My tube ruptured and I lost my right tube. My ultrasound was scheduled for the very next day. So, even if you follow protocol there is always a chance of you losing a tube. I believe my right tube was partially blocked from surgery and that is why I lost my right tube.
Just like Anita pointed out, it is very important that all of our patients follow the early pregnancy protocol and even more importantly confirm that your physician will follow it. It is very upseting to the entire staff at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center when we learn of a tube being removed with an ectopic pregnancy. We review this protocol with you during your nursing consult and you can find this information on our website.

aj, that's why early monitoring is essential. IF you watch those numbers and get the ultrasounds to confirm placement in the uterus, surgery may be prevented. If it appears that the pregnancy is in the tube, the methotrexate shot can be given to avoid surgery. Make sure that your doctor will give you the bloodwork and u/s needed to do this before you get pregnant so that when you do get that BFP all you have to do is make a request instead of argue with him. If he doesn't understand the importance, find someone who does. This, in most cases, prevents surgery and/or the loss of the tube and internal bleeding.

I'm having my TR very soon---I'm getting freaked out with all the Etopic Pregnancy stories with people losing tubes ,bleeding internally ,and sounds like life threatening situations---I guess I was under the impression from the chapel hill website that this can be prevented most times with early monitoring --which made me feel better I know the chances for etopic increase with TR but anyone can have an etopic-I'm sure all the people that have had complications with this have been closely monitored I don't understand how it gets to this point??? I know it takes time to see where the pregnancy is --but isn't there a way to be more on top of it before it requires surgery ????? Sorry but this very concerning to me
