Caroljean776 ~ I'm truly sorry for your loss. Please do not give up! Allow yourself time to heal, then hop back on the band wagon:) <<I know, I know easier said than done>>

I have not had the pleasure of knowing you as long as the other ladies, but I feel as if we've been old friends. I will pray for you and your family.

We are here for you.

Well.. just wanted to post in here, though most probably now... I did lose my little bean - its sad to see me announcing my BFP earlier on Sept. 7. [Frown] My RE was quick to note that even getting pregnant after 40, we do have a higher risk of miscarriage...about 40%.... not a happy thought, but something to keep in mind. Very sad.

Lina, what a blessing to read your post. I just saw my new doc today and we are going the clomid route. I find myself saying "I waited to long. I am too old". Thank you for posting, it has encouraged me. I will be 39 in November.

Like you i am also 39 and having TR done in several weeks. I turn 40 in Dec. of this year. There is concern that I may be too old but everyday I read another post or two of another blessing to a couple that's of "mature maternal age". This gives me strengthened hope. When I speak of it I always say when not "if"...Think positive

I had my TR in Jan, 2006 at age 38. I got my first BFP right after my 39th birthday and our first TR daughter turned 2 in July. I just had our second TR daughter 8/22/09 at the age of 41, so it is possible! Good luck to you.

I had my TR on 2/13/09 and I'm going to be 42 in Dec. I would get all your levels checked first.

Sorry... I realized there were two posts of the same, so I brought over my response on the other thread....

jess... there are ALOT of ladies your age havnig a TR, and some successfully. I would suggest having some hormone levels done (FSH, estradiol, progesterone) all done on CD3 and a full physical by your doc to make sure you are healthy and ready to get pregnant. Along with age come many factors that can hinder fertility, but many of them are "treatable". Insulin issues, thyroid problems, other health issues or problems with previous pregnancies to name a few. Most likely, you will be given a clean bill of health, but it is better to know what you are up against before having the TR. Then, after TR you may need to be alittle more aggressive about TTC, but as long as you have a supportive OB/GYN you will be in good hands.

I had my TR at 41 in April of last year. After almost a year and a half of trying (temping, charting, u/s monitoring, medicated cycles, etc) I am finally pregnant for the first time. It seemed like a long journey, but shorter than some. Just know that it is possible - look at the weekly pregnancy reports and you will see many women over 40 getting BFPs. Good luck!

I delayed my decision for over 10 years before finally having my TR on 5/20/09. I am 39 and got a bfp on 8/3/09. So far so good. I thought I may have waited too long, but I watch the boards and see even those older than me with beautiful blessings! It's all in God's hands of course, but we are super glad we did our part!

I actually had my TR when I was 34. Had TR baby#1 at 36. Then we waited a while to try for #2. Had 2 m/c over the next 3 years. Then at age 41 I got a keeper. I am due in 19 days and will be 42 next month. All we used was an OPK. I would suggest having all your levels checked before the TR, just to make sure that you are not close to menopause. Most of us aren't, but once in a while a lady finds out she is close already. Best of luck!!

On 5/12/09 I had my TR and I am 41. I was pregnant in Aug. but I had a chemical pregnancy. The TR surgery worked for me so I know I can get pregnant again. I would go for it. It can work for you too. Good Luck!!
