Most women will not have pain with a corpus luteum unless it has grown large (greater than 5 cm) and rapidly. Pressure can be a symptom of a large cyst. Some women can sense ovulation but should not have any severe pain from a regular ovulation.

A corpus lutem should go away after your menstrual cycle. Birth control pills help prevent new cysts and also help women with menstrual cramping and endometriosis.

If the cyst does not go away then it suggests the cyst is not a normal corpus lutem and could be some other type of cyst which may require surgery.

Dr.Monteith, if I am planning to have my tr in Dec should I just not take the birth control pills. Is it normal for dr. to prescribe birth control pills for cycsts? What should I do?

Dr. Monteith,
Can you have a dull pain with the corpus luteum? and if yes, how long does that last?
Thanks

A cyst on the ovary can be a normal finding.

When you are in the first two weeks of your cycle the cyst is a developing egg called a follicle and is usually less than 3-5 cm.

When you are in the last two weeks the follicle releases the egg and the remaining cyst is called a corpus luteum and is usually less than 5 cm.

Laquesua,

Your very welcome, just always remember you aren't alone!! I have found this board to be sooo helpful!!

Well after being married a few years, I began getting this burning desire for a child with my husband. I always swore I would "do it right" someday. I had my son at 17 with a high school boyfriend, although he wasn't planned, he is the best thing that happened to me.... I just always dreamt that someday I would really fall in love, and we would want a baby together, plan it etc... well long story short I had a very scarey pregnancy and delivery with my son... and even though I had this need for another baby my husband was reluctant to say the least. I started researching TR's and after revisiting this site several times over probably 2 years one day out of the blue I got dead set on the idea. It was last December, and I called and before I knew it I was on a plane January 10th of 08 on my way to get it!!

I too had absolutely no sex drive either, my entire marriage!! That is really hard, especially when my husband and I were so young!

I am due December 14th, but my doctor doesn't want me going over 39 weeks so I have about 6 weeks left and we are expecting a baby girl [Smile] Natalie Elizabeth.

Luquesua,
I know this post was meant for the doctors but I wanated to write to you a little anyhow. I feel your pain when I read your post. I am currently 33 weeks pregnant. I had my TL in 2002 when I was 22 and I just had my TR in January 08 at 26 (nearly 27 lol)

My mother has commented to me several times since I have become pregnant on how much healthier I look. She says this because I was on 3-4 medications daily for depression and anxiety. (just two of many symptoms I believe could be from PTLS) After reading tons of posts, and now going through the TR journey I believe many of my symptoms prior to the TR had something to do with PTLS. A few years before my TR my family doctor had mentioned PTLS to me, and of course my OB thought it was non sense. Unfortunately I have no positive way of knowing right now for sure if I look and feel healthier simply because I am off the medication due to becoming pregnant or if it is because I got the TR and relieved symptoms of PTLS. I got pregnant just 2 months after my TR, so the true test will be how I feel after I deliver.

I know exactly what you mean about the crying when you see pregnant women etc. I use to watch baby shows all the time and I would just balllll my eyes out, I felt like I was going crazy. I had this awful feeling of envy and jealousy when I would see someone pregnant or with a new baby. I became a person I wasn't very proud of, and I even belittled myself in my head a bit too I think. I felt less of a women not being able to bare children. I also felt as if I were going into menapause for years before my TR which was insane considering my age. I had the aches, pains, night sweats etc....Anyways I don't want to carry on forever, I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know you aren't alone. I did decide to get my TR done because I wanted another baby, but in that process I found a lot of women similar to me, and I found out that I wasn't crazy PTLS is real. So for me I am very blessed to have gotten pregnant, and the bonus for me will be relief from a lot of horrible symptoms I had prior to the TR. I wish you a lot of luck, I think you are on the right path!!

I recently went to my Ob and found out that I have cycsts on my ovarie and my uterus and was told that this is normal. Is this true? I told the Dr. that I am having PTLS and she said that I just have PMS. Recently my symtoms have gotton worst I have a very bad case of depression which was the last straw for me and dh. Other symtoms I have been having for years are migrains, mood swings very badly, cramps, nausea, hair starting to fall out, weight gain, hard to lose weight, night sweats, my joints hurt because of the weight gain. I am not crazy right!

Well plenty of tests have been taken an nothing found. I am 30 and had tl at 23 after having twins which made 5 kids altogether. My Ob prescribed some birth control she said that it would do 2 things, shrink the cycsts and keep me from getting pg, because I have 1 tube and had anectopic pg in 2006, the sizes were 2-3 cm on each side, she said they arent very concerned unless they are at 5cm, is this true?

I told her that I am planning on getting the tr soon she said to use the birth control until I get it. Well today should be the first day to take them but we are planning to have tr in Dec. ao should take them or not? I just had my toncils taken out on Oct. 2 and I was taking Diladid for pain and after taking them I felt more depressed than before I am really concerned that the Diladid made it worst. I cry when I see pregnant women and babies my dh says he sees the pain in my face and really wants me to have the tr right away. We will be making our payment at the end of Nov. to have it done in Dec. I have read the recent ptls posts and I could have sworn that it was me. I really have to get the tr done soon before I go insane. My dh say he just wants to have me back to normal and having another baby would just be a bonus. He is really a great man and I thank him so much every day for putting up with my mood swing. Sorry for the long post my I really need help and its sad you own Drs dont understand.

Thanks
Luquesua
