Post tubal ligation syndrome is widely debated amongst the OB/Gyn medical community. Many doctors do not accept that it exists as a diagnosis; maybe because there is no definitive test for it. At one time there was no definitive test for HIV, but there is now! I am glad that you have relief of your symptoms. Sometimes all one can do is tell their story enough times for someone to finally listen. Consider yourself a pioneer. Fran, RN

Your doctor is apparently not getting that fact that she is "practicing medicine" and is not all knowing. I find it so aggravating when MDs dismiss things without having enough information or even listening closely their patients. While my MDs honestly stated that they had never heard of PTLS or had patients complain about it..they both agreed that they do not have all the answers and if I am better..then that is what is important. You can read posts and blogs from many women here (me included) that will demonstrate how TR effects the body and can vastly improve and even cure PTLS symptoms. I spent 3 years in PTLS hell and after TR (within 4-5 months)..all 22 of my symptoms were gone with no other meds or intervention of any kind. I would be happy to enlighten your MD!

rrrhan, my ob/gyn told me that the TL would cause me to have heavier periods and cramps. He was right. You are not "nuts" girl. In fact, explain this...I just had my TR on 12/18/08. My first period after surgery was 2 and a half days long. Didn't even know it was coming. No symptoms AT ALL. No cramps and no 5-6 day period. NO FLOODING either!! It was my first normal period in over 13 years!I know TR has helped my PTLS!Amy H

So, when I went to this new OB/GYN, I told her that my periods have been shorter, and I have had much less PMS symptoms and my cramps have been much lighter since TR. She told me that the TR has nothing to do with the changes. I am almost positive that I was having some TL syndrome. She insisted that the TR has NOTHING to do with the changes. Interesting. Is she just unenlightened or am I nuts to thing that TR helps with PMS and other Menstrual symptoms
