Thanks Anita! I am so looking forward to some relief - this month, I was down 16 days; last month, 19 days with an ER trip... It really shocked me that for a year and a half that nobody (medical folks) clued into this and that it took a stranger listening to me cry to figure it out. Mentally, making the decision on the TR has helped my emotions - now for the physical relief after 02.16.2009 - I can't wait!!

With all of this, my man and I are even discussing the possibility of TTC again... I do have 2 daughters (18 & 10) but had multiple miscarriages which is why the TL in the first place... we know that my problem is low progesterone production so our talks have been about solving that and then TTC. Has anyone gone through this?

LA, sorry your life had to be put on hold because of PTLS. Like I said, I never heard of it until after I had my TR. This month, AF creeped in the back door, and I never even heard her coming. LOL I got the TR to have more children, and this is an added bonus. I hope your symptoms clear up quickly after your TR.

Hi Violab and All... I am new here and so thrilled to be part of this group as well. A little history on me - I am 38 years old, I had TL in 11/2006 due to multiple miscarriages and not wanting to keep dealing with that... within 3 months of my TL, I started experiencing all sorts of strange happenings... I never clued in that it could possibly be PTLS - for that last year and a half, my doctors (yes, plural - as in 6 medical professionals) have not been able to figure out what my problems were UNTIL I went to an OB appt with a girlfriend and we were talking about the hell I was going through - her nurse overheard us and asked me a couple of questions and left the room... when my girlfriend's doc came in, she asked if we minded if she asked a couple of questions - okay, why not - I didn't have to pay her :-) so I did... after her list of questions about symptoms, she asked me if I had a TL and when - I told her - she asked if anyone had talked to me about PTLS - NO!!! That was in October - since then, I have got back to all of my docs - some say No, some say Maybe, I say "you don't go down 12-18 days a month like I do" so... My symptoms/issues are so bad that I ended up quitting my job in September 2007 because I was missing so much work - having to leave early or not go in at all... I am really down either physically ill or sleeping for 12-18 days a month. It starts about 4 days before my cycle, lasts the entire 5-6 days of the actual cycle then 3-4 days after my cycle ends. I have even made a couple of trips to ER because of pain levels being so high. I have the support of my OB for a TR with CH. I hope that if even half of my issues ease, it will be totally worth it.
Violab, all of us are different so what might work for me, won't work for you... I have not found anything specific to help me with my symptoms with the exception of lots of time in bed... my cycle days are so heavy that if I move around, it is worse - if I am in bed, not so bad but the minute I get up - not good at all... same goes with my pain levels... aspirin, naproxen, motrin - nothing helps - doc prescribe major pain meds that knock me out so again - sleep... you really should talk to your OB/doc and if they don't offer help, find one that will...
I hope to learn more here as well as get some added support from women that are going through the same thing I am... OH - By the way, I scheduled my TR today for 02/16/2009!
Take care,
~LA

Hi Violab -
Many of us here who struggled with PTLS for years had different ranges of symptoms. What are your specific symptoms? If you share yours I am sure many of the other ladies will chime in with some suggestions. I had about 22 different symptoms over 3 years. I had my TR in June of 2008 and was symptom free within 4-5 months. The recovery took time but I am like my old self again. You can read my symptoms in some of the old PTLS blogs here...The original was in June and I forget when the follow up was. I hate to type my myriad of symptoms over and over here so I usually just tell folks who may be new here to read the blogs! There are blogs about several different women here and their experiences with PTLS. I am sure it will be helpful for your to read the stories and to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel through TR. You will get a lot of encouragement and support here when you need it by both the CH staff and the wonderful women on this board. If you do have the TR you will be in excellent caring hands at CH.

Welcome Viola. I'm glad it didn't take you too long to figure out what was causing you problems, and to find the info on it. I never heard of PTLS, and didn't know how greatly everything would change until after I had the TR. I never found anything to help my symptoms, but there are some very wise women on here, and I hope one of them will be able to offer some good advice.

Hi
I happy to be part of the group and I hope you will help me.
I had my TL on Sep 2008 and realise that I`ve made the worst mistake ever in my life. I`ve started experiencing PTLS.I`ve tried google to check the cause of this until I find out that TL is the cause.
I ve decided to do TR that`s why I and hubby are saving money for TR.
For time being what medicine can I buy to minimise the pains that Im currently feeling?
