Please take a laxative right now. I was very badly constipated from not eating my normal high fiber diet, and the pain meds, and not going on schedule (hee hee). I normally do NOT like laxatives, and don't ever need help in that dept. However, I started with a stool softener (docusate sodium) and it didn't do the trick. I was thankful for miralax, but it was NOT fun to pass if you catch my drift. It was by far the worst part of my good recovery....

I have a high tolerance for pain, and I avoid medications, and I went to my own doc for more pain meds for night time, because I was a bit busy during the day that causes some sleeping pain issues at night.

Best wishes and let us know how you are!

God Bless,

Andrea

I did ok with pain tolerance. My worst days were day 2 and 3 after surgery. Don't do what I did and wait around to have a BM..I was way overdue and had to use a laxative. Bad situation because the laxative was trying to work but I was "impacted". That was a LONG, PAINFUL night. Take something natural, non stimulant, to help you if you need to.

Hang in there ptlsmama! It will get better! I know how you feel, my TR was a year ago this month and I had a really hard time with gas and BM. Unfortunately I let myself wait way too long to have one and I suffered for it. Make sure to check with the doctors/nurses, but if you don't have one soon you may want to try a stool softner or laxative. I felt wonderful the day of surgery and the day after it was the week following that tested me. I don't have a high tolerance for pain and the meds didn't always cut it for me either...... not to mention I was on them a extra week.
It is all worth it in the end.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
