Thank you for your reply and yes if he reschedule me this time, I will be finding another doctor and see what can be done...But me and my DH have decided if it takes a reversal then that is what will be...We have been together for 2 yrs but he says he can tell I\'m in a lot of pain and easily frustrated and just cry for no reason for 3 weeks out of the month and he wants me to be happy and not all this up and down roller coaster any more...

aerial227 - I suggest you find a physician who has the time to actually see you..and LISTEN to your concerns. Any MD who dismisses your concerns without taking notes, getting more details and testing you is not worth seeing. I was also told by my OB/GYN of more than 20 years (who I love to death) that these things were probably from aging and if she tested me I would probably be indicate I was in the beginning of perimenopause heading to menopause (I was 43 when I had my TR. I had a baby at 40 and had my TL at the birth)..My results were normal...Like I said..she is not a true believer in PTLS but she listened, did a bunch of appropriate tests on me and supported my journey. That is what I would expect of a good medical practitioner. You should not settle for anything less. This is your health and your life we are talking about..do not put it in the hands of anyone that dismissive. You deserve better and your can make it over to the other side with the right support.
I have been reading on here about pt ls...And i do have some of the same symptoms...I had a TL in Nov. 2001, and ever since told my ob that right after about 2 months that my periods were not the same they come anytime and never on time...And its been getting worse over the years...and i will blow up for no reason and cry just out of nowhere....for about 2 weeks out of the month i feel like crap...I don\'t want to do anything, just lay around its takes all i have to do to get my self to work...And then when i do have my period i lay in a fetal position for 2-3 days because of the cramping and bleeding heavy then its gone then i feel sick for about another week...Could this be pt ls or what...My ob doctor just says its age and its normal after a TL. I have gained 100 lbs through the years and i never did battle weight gain...I was always active now forget it...Plus i feel like my ob is rushing me out of his office or he cancelled my appointments for about 2 yrs now i make an apt. and its like i have to resechedule been this way for about 2 yrs now....

You will probably not find an MD who will support the PTLS dx but you may find one who supports YOU and your quest to take back your health...When you go in there..speak from the heart and from your experience. Bring in copies of some of the PTLS blogs that show other women out there in your shoes and share them.. My OB/GYN supported my journey even though she is not a true PTLS believer (never having had a single patient complaint after TL). PTLS is real and never let anyone tell you it isn't or simply hand you anti-deppressant to "treat" you...Many women have gotten relief from their symptoms through TR and you may be able to as well...

I thought the same as you, that it would get better each month after I weaned my DD. Well that was over a year ago, and it's the same thing every month.
Every month starts off I end my period. I feel somewhat normal. A few days later, I swell up (water weight I guess). I get several days of heavy discharge (YUCK LOL), followed by severeal ovulation cramps. During that time I feel moody and not myself. After ovulation, I get a couple of days of relieve, and the PMS sets in. Tired, wheepy, hormonal, cramps, weight gain, bloated, gassy, hotflashes. Then AF is 2 days of regular flow, several days of nothing, then AF comes back again. I feel like I never get a break.
I never had these problems prior to a TL. I was never really on hormonal bc either for since 2000.
I plan on asking the doctor when I go in for my well-woman but I suspect they will dismiss my concerns. I did ask about PTLS when I was considering a TL and my concerns were all dismissed.

5xlove, Please let me refer you to Dr Monteith's recent blog about a patient of ours suffering from PTLS and her journey to tubal reversal. I think this may answer your questions. Best wishes,

When I went in for my last OB appointment I brought up the fact that I feel really crampy around O time, I cramp more, and I have definate ovulation pain. It feels like a pulled muscle or something. I dont know. It's enough to make me take something for pain and get out the heating pad sometimes. Not all the time is it THAT bad.
And I am not sure about the weight gain. I attributed that to getting older, and the third baby rather than PTLS.
During AF I have cramps that hurt more post TL. But again I am not totally sure if it's TL related or age, etc.
For sure the O pain is TL related.
I was going somewhere with this. OH, my OB DR. I asked him about the ovulation pain and crampiness I feel. And of course I asked if it was TL related and he said no, and told me it's just that I am more aware of my body. But I think it's TL related. I remember 15 years ago bringing up PMS to my doctor and he thought I was a hypochondriac. Now if I mention PMS the doctor understands (one of my x-husbands wasnt a believer in PMS til he met me either lol). People become more enlightened as time goes on, it's just too bad it takes so long. Maybe PTLS will be the same way.

Tracy, I would love to talk to you via email. So how do we exchange addresses without breaking the rules? I would give you mine right now if it was allowed. I've been going through a lot, so be prepared to hear about it! (If you really want to.) Can't wait to talk to you.

Brenda - I have been thinking about you a lot and wondering how you are doing. How are you feeling? It has been such a long time! I would love to talk to you off-line if you want. Post here and let me know and I will get you my e-mail address without violating message board rules!!!
5xlove - Sadly, most MDs are non believers in PTLS. You will see an occasional enlightened or open minded MD willing to consider the possibility but it is rare. Stick to your guns on this. Print some of the PTLS blog stuff and postings here and share them with your MD. If he still refuses to work WITH YOU to help you get control of and restore your health I strongly suggest you find another MD if possible. PTLS IS REAL and never accept anyone just dismissing you. Search the net and print out the 30+ symptoms of PTLS..Go through and make a check mark next to each one you have been experiencing since your TL. Sometimes, the tricky thing is that certain symptoms taken individually can be misleading and seem like other things like thyroid issues or depression, among others. I cannot tell you how important it is to have a medical professional on your side at least willing to consider PTLS as a possibility. Don't give up..Channel that energy and aggravation into STRONGLY encouraging your current MD (or a new one) to help you find answers. You should have your hormones checked at the very least. He may have to give you something to bring on that period. That happened to me once many years ago (pre-TL or TR). It gave me a ripping heachache but worked and it never happened again.
Good luck, keep the faith and keep us posted on your progress.

5xlove, Hi! I'm Brenda and I haven't been on here in a long time. I just decided this morning to see what's going on with everybody, and I came across your post. I had my TL in July of 2005, and I've had various symptoms of PTLS. I've never gone completely without a period, but mine has been up to two weeks late since TL. People have reported anything from no period to nonstop periods, so you just never know how it will affect you. I think TL messes you up so that your body doesn't know what to do.
MOMZILLA, it made me smile when I saw your name. I need to come here more often and keep in touch with people who understand what I'm going through.

Many of us who suffer(ed) from PTLS have different and varied symptoms..It could be PTLS..I had funky heavy floody periods from mine...You can search on the net and find like 35 other symptoms. I suggest you track all your symptoms and when they develop..My TR cured all of mine in 4 months or so.

I only had 2 periods because we weaned our 18 month old to have my TR but the 2 I had were nothing like pre TL. Like you I had easy cycles for 25 years and then suddenly after TL, headaches, spotting before AF, heavy cramping during and major moodiness for 1/2 the month. Ironically my friends who also had TL had similar symptoms but all chalked it up to age. Sooooo many do not give any credibility to PTLS but having experienced it personally, I have to think that it's too much to be a coincidence...
