Hi, and thank you again for your replies! Btw, i'm in North Ga, so i'm close to you NC people. I went and had some tests done at my gyn and all they said was my Thyroid was low. Which is wired because it has always been high and I was taking a thyroid blocker. Anyway, my Thyroid has always been messed up, and that still doesn't explain why I started having sympthoms after I had my TL done. This is so frustrating that I can't do anything about this. So, I feel like that was a big waste of time to even try.

I live near the mountains. I am right at Morganton, NC. I love it here. I take it that some one is in the military. I will do my best to keep up and watch how things with you go. My OB took out 2-3cm of tube when he did my TL. And he burned the tube that was left too. After my TR I now have R-3.0/L-2.5 . I was worried that I could not get one done too. But God had to worked out and the PTLS has gotten so much better it is unreal. If you would like it my email is ransheets23 at yahoo dot com. Try not to worry so much. Have you sent your report in to CHTRC yet for the doctors to look at? Well I will look in later. Miranda

Thanks for the welcome!! Where are you from in NC? We'll be moving to Fort Bragg, but living closer to Spring Lake/Hope Mills. Haven't quite figured that out yet.
I hope I can get some relief from it. That is if it can even be reversed. The doctor that did mine said he likes to take a lot of tube.

Jessica Welcome, my name is Miranda. I live in NC and I am so glad I got the TR. I feel so much better and I am me again. I had my surgery on March 24/2008 and would love another baby but would pay for it all again just to have the PTLS better. I wish you all the best.

Hello! I'm new to the board as well. I had a tubal ligation about 20 months ago with my last baby.
I have had horrible side effects as well. I kept thinking month after month it would get better, but it hasn't. I feel the same as you: constant PMS basically. I have only about 2-3 days out of the month where I feel normal.
I was on the fence if a TR was right for me, but I am seriously considering it after we move to NC here shortly. I do want to TTC again but even if I never have another baby, just to have some relief would be awesome!

I just read Bobo's story and it is word for word what I am going through down to the year I had my TL. I have been approved thru MedChoice for a portion of the TR surgery amount but am trying to come up with the rest. However, it may be a while because it is my understanding that you do not qualify for the early payment reduction if you use them so I am just real discouraged right now. I feel like every obstacle that I could come across is being thrown my way. I just want to feel whole again and be better for my husband and children and who knows maybe get a third child out of it. I sympathize with you BoBo. I am 29 years old and feel 59 because of PTLS...If only I had known, I would have never had TL

Hi Bobo~ Chapel Hill has a payment plan which is a great option. If you open up the plan with $250 and send in amounts as often as you can...you WILL get there! Most insurance companies don't cover it, but CH will provide you with a statement to submit to see if they will cover...if not it is definitely a medical tax deduction. We are very happy about the tax deduction, our tax guy said that everything will be a write off for us, praise God.
In the meantime do your best to take care of yourself.
We do not understand what about having a sterilization causes the symptoms, why they vary so much between different women, or why PTLS only seems to affect some women and not others. What we are doing is collecting data from our patients who tell us they have this problem, then following up with them 6 months after their reversal surgery. We have not analyzed the data yet - but so far, it appears that close to 90% of the women we have followed up with have experienced either some or dramatic improvement. There is no way to know whether tubal reversal surgery would eliminate the problems you have had since your tubal ligation - but you certainly have a possibility of feeling better from the TR surgery.

Thank you so much for your replies. I don't feel so much alone anymore. I can't imagine living with this for 10yrs, that is courage. as for theperson that called it a devil, I agree 200 percent, that is a great name for this. I was told a reversal (by my gyn) would not help, but from your stories, I see otherwise, which I was thinking also. is there a way insurance would pay for it, or am I stuck until I can save up my pennies?

Bobo, I too, as most women on here, had suffered from PTLS after TL. I didn't know what all my symptoms were until DH and I decided to have a TR to have a baby together... that's when the light bulb came on for me. I had no idea. My major symptoms were much like yours... sore BB, migraine lasting 2 days before AF, unbearable cramps, heavy flow and lots of clots for an average of 5 days. I too had about one week of the month that I felt "normal". Unfortunately there aren't a lot of Docs out there that recognize or even agree with PTLS. I had my TR 4/13/09 and have had 1 AF since. I can't even explain in words how much better it was. I had a med flow day 1; day 2 was light flow; and day 3 was just spotting and then it was over. I had no clots and minimal crampin. I am due for AF tomorrow and have none of my "usual" symptoms. I am 14DPO and tested this morning.. it was BFN so I don't think I'm pg. Usually by now I am in bed with all the lights off with a terrible headache and can't lift my arms above me head due to sore BBs. PTLS is VERY real and I would recommend CHTRC to anyone suffering from this; they are the Docs you are looking for. I wish you the best of luck in the future. Please ask all the questions you want on these boards, there are a lot more women on here with more TR history then I. Smiles, Lisa

BOBO~ Try not to despair. I know it is difficult. Everyone on these boards is a great support system and those suffering with PTLS totally understand. Take a look at the message board and read what everyone has to share about their personal walks with the PTLS-devil.
I just had TR, last week, I feel different inside. I was experiencing major mood swings and was like a wicked witch. The slightest things would set me off. My cycles were longer, heavier, and clots, plus the cramping. Prior to TL, in 2001, I had normal periods, slight PMS, little to no cramping, no clots, and I was sane!
Though it has only been a week for me and I haven't drawn close to day 1 yet, I feel a sort of inner calm. I don't know, but I believe my TR has made, and is going to make, a world of difference in my life.
Do your own research on PTLS, TR, and the different options to help. I went through vitamin/supplement therapy, which helped some. I also had natural hormone therapy, which helped also. I became a RAW/Living Foodist, did liver/gallbladder flushes, colonics, parasite cleansing, everything natural I could research to cleanse my body and restore it to its former self. Yes these different therapies helped me be healthier, but some of the symptoms still lived on.
I wish you the best in finding your own personal route out of the PTLS tornado, and you are definitely in my prayers.

bobo, i went thru similar cycles every moth since my tl. I had tl done over 15 years ago and unfortunately my symptoms got worse and worse as the years went by. I never paid attention to the relation from tl until recently. I didnt have any sympathy from my gyno, infact he put me on zoloft to treat what he called severe pmdd. I have to admit, the zoloft did help with my symptoms a little. I am 1 month out from having TR so my system is a lil up and down, but I hear other women have excellent outcomes. Good luck!

I can only chime in for myself here .. I had TL in 1999 and TR last Monday. (5-11-09) This is the first time in 10 years that my breasts were not constantly sore. My family dr always makes comments about the fibroids in my breasts everytime I have an exam. It was pure agony sometimes putting on or removing my bra. And, it never mattered what time of the month it was. Since two days after TR, I have had no pain or discomfort, and I even got AF that same day! I have never had AF issues. Always comes on schedule, and never overly painful. I have read about PTLS symtpoms like complexion issues, migraines, and mood swings .. I have those intermittently, but not sure if those can be attributed to my TL. I just know they did not exist beforehand. I feel like a new person, very complete and content since TL. I hope you find what you are searching for.
