That is good news, that helps so much when you have a doctor that acknowledges you! Hopefully you will be able to have the TR soon so you will find relief.

Just wanted to update everyone on my visit with my OB/GYN (the new one). He actually acknowledged that some women have issues after a TL and that a TR does fix the problems. He said some women do have hormonal imbalances after a TL and have to take BCP to regulate it.. I am glad that he acknowledges the problems!

Tulip Garden - No I am not scheduled for my TR yet. I want to go in September if at all possible. I should have the money in August, but not sure if I will be able to book that soon. I am going to my current OB/GYN tomorrow to talk about my pain.

Also I want to thank everyone again for all of their support [Smile] I am going to check that website out that was suggested [Smile]

To find a DO Google "American Osteopathic Association". They have listings for all states, but aren't totally up to date with their database. I found mine by referral and she just happened to be a participating provider with my insurance. I cross referenced her with the AOA and she is legit.

Best to you BearsGirl!

That is good your other doctor did order the tests. I really like my family doctor also, he is so understanding. I wished I could have him as my OBGYN, but alas it did work out that I found a good one.

DO is a doctor of osteopathic medicene. I used to work for a pediatrician that was a DO. If you search on the internet you can find the meaning, cause its hard to explain. I wonder if a DO would be more understanding? Maybe someone can chime in on that part. It would be interesting.

At any rate, I hope you finf relief soon. Are you scheduled for TR yet?

Thanks for all of the advice everyone it really helps me out. I am going to take the advice and talk to my OB/GYN and shop around for one that will follow the protocol that Dr. M & B recommend.

To answer the question that Tulip Garden asked - my regular Dr. ordered a Thyroid test along with other blood work and everything came out clear. The sad thing is that my regular Dr. understands what I am talking about and my concerns, etc.

By the way, what is a "DO"? I will search for one of those also and see if I can find one who will talk with me [Smile]

I was trying to find a doctor that would be supportive of my TR and Dr. Berger's protocol. I kind of shopped around, talked to my family doctor, etc. I made an appointment with one doctor but come to find out it was the doctor my husband and his ex used when she had a miscarriage and his ex didnt care for him. They went to a different doctor and I was considering using that one when I found the one I am seeing. I felt very comfortable with his staff, and the make or break was if he would follow Dr. B's protocol which he was more than willing. He listened to me. I actually want someone who is straight forward and to the point but willing to listen. And I found him. I was so nervous about going that my DH ended up going with me, bless his heart, I guess I was afraid of him getting on to me about my age and what he thought of TR, but he was very supportive. We even discussed labor/delivery and we had the same view, which really made me feel good.

I know that doesnt have much to do with PTLS, but I imagine it's going to be hard to find a doctor who thinks it's legit. Which is unfortunate, but if you want to get PG I can see why it's SO important to find someone ahead of time who you KNOW will follow the pregnancy monitoring as Martha mentioned.

Weight gain is so evil. It's one of those vague things that can be linked to a billion things. Was the doctor at least willing to run tests? That helps pinpoint some causes of weight gain. Like my doctor ordered a thyroid test to see if that was the cause of my weight gain. It wasnt but at least it put that one diagnosis to rest.

I went through several doctors trying to find one that believed in PTLS. I finally ended up with one that doesn't necessarily believe in PTLS, but was willing to treat me after I had my TR. Her view is that it is my body and I can try different things to see if they help me. (I am hoping that after my PTLS symptoms start to go away that I can make a believer out of her??) Anyhow, I agree that as long as you find a doctor that is somewhat open or at least not hostile at the mention of PTLS, that's about the best you'll get.
That is one of the reasons that I had my TR at Chapel Hill... because they are doing a study of patients with PTLS to hopefully give doctors a different attitude about it.

Unfortunately, "PTLS" is not recognized as a legitimate condition by either the medical establishment or the insurance industry therefore it may be difficult to find a physician that will understand what you are experiencing and label it as "PTLS". I agree with Colleen that it would be best to seek out a physician who will follow the pregnancy protocol outlined by Dr. Berger and Dr. Monteith.

This is a tough task. I just found a D.O. and will be interviewing her to see if I want her to be my new OB/GYN. I called a few offices and asked questions that some nurses/front office asst. answered and some said I would need to speak to the Dr. to get those answers. I think that this D.O. I will see on the 22nd just may be the one. I also looked into a few RE but I just did not have a good feeling about them. My last OB/GYN did my TL and the one just before was kind of arrogant and laughed at me when I mentioned PTLS.

I think a female OB/GYN that is a DO just may be the route since they treat the body in its totality and not just mask symptoms with Rx. You can find a DO in your area through the American Ostopathic Association.

Good luck,
Denise

The Dr. who did my tubal ligation does not believe in PTLS at all. Because of this, I went to another Dr. and he does not believe in this either. He told me that my 15 pounds of weight gain were simply "aging".. all that happened in a year since the TL. My Dr. also stated that I was just "getting older". How did others on here find a Dr. that would listen?
