Hi everyone! I just had my TR on 6/15 & I am happy to report that I just had my first normal period in 2 1/2 years! Not to be gross but...After my ligation my periods went really crazy. I would bleed very heavy (15-18 pads a day for two days straight!)and MAJOR contraction-like pains. As you would imagine this left me weak, tired, and miserable. I got my first period a week after my TR surgery (right on schedule). I had it for four days and only went through about 4 or 5 pads each day. Other symptoms of PTLS are also gone, already! I still have a ways to go but I am very excited to see the results already after only two weeks! There is hope, and I know this will work for you too:) p.s. WE ARE NOT CRAZY AFTERALL, WOOHOO!

Peanutbritto - Thanks for sharing. I am right now suffering from PTLS and find comfort by being on this board. I am so tired of people thinking I am crazy or just in a "bad mood" or having "PMS".... it's to the point to where I hate myself for what I did I hope to get a TR before the end of the year. I can't believe the doctors think we are crazy either - one day they will realize I hope, the truth of our situations!

Peanutbritto-I agree! We all ended up here for a reason! I think that CH offers so much hope to many of us who have suffered and unintentionally. Many of us saw TL as a permanent form of birth control and were not informed or misinformed. PTLS is so very real and devastating. To imagine a doctor would suggest to have a more invasive surgery is wild and frightening. I agree with Tracy and Donca, fully. I am scheduled for TR in 2 weeks, exactly. I cannot wait to provide another testament to the success of the surgery to everyone and be a positive statistic for CH and their research! I pray all women who are suffering end up on this site! Angela, I would reconsider if I were you re: the medical opinion you have been given and if all else fails, get a second and a third opinion. You have a whole site committed to excellence here @ CH and hope that you consider the TR so you can BD with success! My very best wishes to you and the many others out there suffering~Emily

Angela....PLEASE do not listen to that doctor!!! It breaks my heart to hear that there are doctors wanting to do that to women. PTLS is TERRIBLE and I was so excited that I was able to actually fix it by reversing my TL. Once a doctor removes tubes or uterus and it doesn't fix PTLS, there is then NO reversing that and you are STUCK with PTLS...that is a horrifying though...I wouldn't want that for anyone! It is by the grace of God that you have found this site and discovered there is the option of TR...TR is great!

Angela, Oh my gosh, no way! I would never advise anyone to have anything removed unless it was cancerous or something along those lines. There is far too much evidence, for me, that points to the correlation between TL and PTLS. I am only about to have my second AF since TR and am already experiencing positive outcome regarding PRLS. My biggest issues were pain, mood swings, and little to no libido. I didn't even have pain at O this cycle and I usually do...No tripped out mood swings...and best of all, I had a libido again!
I pray for direction for you in your search for an answer.

Angela, Please do not let any crazy doctor take any part of you out! In the absence of something life threatening like cancer I would not let someone remove anything from me. Do you have any other diagnosis to go along with your PTLS? If not, do not let someone convince you to do something so drastic and life altering. Many of us have had severe PTLS for years that was gone within months of a TR..Even if there is something else going on inside you..always get another opinion before having a drastic procedure. I do not believe there is any logic to curing PTLS by removing the tubes...it makes zero sense. Also, how will removing your uterus cure PTLS symptoms other than heavy bleeding??? I seriously question the medical advice you are getting. I was already suspicious of your doctor when you said you were diagnosed with PTLS..I gotta tell you that I have NEVER heard any of the women on this board have a doctor admit there is even such a diagnosis to give out (sad but true)..NOBODY believes...and yet your MD diagnosed you with PTLS but then wants to cure it by taking out your tubes/uterus??? Crazy indeed!

Angela... I would think that taking out your tubes would not take care of the problem at all, since it started with the tubes being tied. By taking them out they are still closed and it will not help. I agree with Anita... Try the TR first, especially if you want another baby. Even if you don't get pregnant it will most likely take care of the PTLS. I had my surgery 4 weeks ago and feel incredible. I feel better than I have in 3 years. I hate it that the doctors think WE are the ones that are CRAZY! I am glad that DH did not go with me to the doctor when I went to get my labs done preop. I wanted to deck the doctor. He said that I made up the whole PTLS and that all he needed to know was that I was depressed and had anxiety. I have never come so close to blessing someone out. DH threatened to go back down there and let him have it, but I would not let him. Lets just say I will not be going back to him. I am so glad peanut... that you are feeling so much better. It gets even better. God Bless! Heather
