A screening laparoscopy is where the physician will go in with a camera to confirm that you have enough fallopian tube remaining to do a reversal. If there is enough, the physician will immediately proceed with your tubal reversal. If there is not enough tube remaining to reverse your sterilization, the physician will stop the surgery. You will be able to get a partial refund of your money. (your total amount paid minus $3800 the cost of the screening laparoscopy). Many of our patients look at this as an "insurance policy" to get some sort of a refund if a reversal is not possible, although 98% of the time both Dr. Berger and Dr. Monteith are able to reverse one or both of the fallopian tubes.
Please contact our office if you have any additional questions or if this is unclear.

I don't know if it would be something the other doctor could do. I think that the doctor doing your surgery would want to look at things himself so he knows what he is going to do when he gets in there. The purpose is to check and make sure that the tubes are reversable before they go in and there is nothing they can do. But there is a very small percent chance that they cannot fix them, even if they are short. I believe that the statistics say that 98% of the time they can fix them. Good luck and God Bless! Heather

I am curious who had the optional lap done before the TR...I am not even sure if I understand what the purpose is of it. I know that it is $1000 extra and am wondering if this is something that my OB would be able to do so I could run it through insurance...anyone?!!!! Thanks for your help! Emily
