I never handled the pill well at all, and I tried many times. No matter which one we used. My mother has me scared to death to do an IUD cause it caused her to have to get a hysterectomy cause she had so many issues with how it was situated. I made it 6 years without getting pregnant with the rythym method, which is not that reliable hahahaha. Natural Family planning is more reliable. I dunno how reliable it is once you get close to menopause. ? We are shooting for one blessing, I am 35, DH almost 44. Our youngest two are 9 years old. Absolutely we will not use surgical methods for either one of us. If we have more than one, then that is what happens. But we are only going to try to have one. Hopefully, we get that one. I think we could handle twins better now than we could when we were younger.

After my TR, I was accepted into a nursing program that I didn't expect to get into, so we decided to wait on TTC. I did use the pills and found them no different than before. Additionally, I used an IUd inbetween my second and third dd's and I liked it. The hormones "stay put" and don't effect your behavior. Also, the risks of pelvic inflam disease is slim. The risks used to be MUCH higher years ago, but the devices have changed and the chances now are greatly reduced. My hubby and I will never have anything permanent done again, so I'll prob get another IUD when needed! Jackie

Because I have to have c-sections and have already had 3 we are probably going to do one, maybe two more. When we are done we have to make sure that I do not get pregnant again. I told DH that at that point my life could be in the balance if I were to get pregnant. Your uterus can only handle getting cut on so many times. I told DH that it would be him or condoms for the next 20 years. That took him from "No Way, No How" to considering it. LOL Heather

I have no idea what were going to do. All I know is I can't do the pill due to the hormones and I don't want the depo shot for the same reason. I told DH that if he doesn't want anymore kids he can be the one to worry about it.lol That being said, we will probably end up having another baby somewhere down the road.lol

No BC pill for me, it makes me go insane. So, it's probably going to be Natural Family planning with some sort of barrier method when cose to O time. I am not a fan of the IUD either, or anything hormonal.

After have suffered for 6 years with severe PTLS, I didn't want to add any hormones to this body to get it to go crazy again. I can't use condoms, because Im extremely allergic to them. Not sure if it is the material or the spermicide. My OB told me that being I had had a TR the risk of ectopic PG is even more increased, so this wasn't an option. So I decided the best and safest method was the FAM (Fertility Awareness Method.) This is basically the same method alot of the members of the board is using TTC, just in reverse. I have learned ALOT about my body since using this method as a form of birth control. Of course it isn't 100% effective. But I like the fact that it is all natural. This method isn't for everyone. It takes alot of dedication getting to know your body. But well worth the effort if someday you decide TTC again. I have been using the FAM for the past 2 years with success.

I've also been thinking about this. I have 4 kids and we would love to have one more. I am 40 yrs old. If I ever get preg. again I don't know what I am gonna do to prevent pregnancy. Hubby won't get surgery on himself and I don't know that I want to have a tl again. I don't want to take birthcontrol pills cause of my age. Funny cause this never came to mind when I decided to have a TR.

I don't know. That is an interesting question. I don't know what we are going to do for BC after we have our TR baby #1. Although I have to get pregnant first. LOL I told DH that after we were done he was getting fixed. I am not getting reTL, because of the severe consequences. I will be interested in seeing anyone else\'s responses. Heather

Thanks Heather...it sounds like we are in the same boat with our hormones being so sensitive! I wonder if a lot of us women have that in common on these boards!

I was never able to tollerate any kind of birth control pills. My body does not handle my hormones being messed up, hense my severe PTLS when my hormones got messed up with the TL. That is probably the reason we had 3 kids and 3 m/c in 5 years.LOL Sorry I could not be much help, but I did not want you to sit here with no response. Heather

Hey ladies! This is a question for those who had the TR done for PTLS...and maybe those who did but are putting off TTC for now!...What types of birth control have you been using since the TR? Did your body respond any differently to it after the TR? I used YAZ prior to my TL and am hoping to go back on it. I have always been medication sensitive so I was curious on everyone else's experience. I need the birth control to be mighty effective! I don't think that I am interested in UTI due to negative responses I have heard about with them, but then I have not had one so I am only believing what I am hearing! Insight please!!!! Thanks
