He chrisNbrian,

I haven't been on the boards in a really long time and just read your post. I had my TR 10/29/08. Best thing I did. I had period issues which have been amazing now, regular!!

But, I know your question is about fatigue etc. I was always a person who worked out and kept in shape. I did it even through both of my pregancies. After my TL I became sooo tired, fatigued very easy, no energy, short short temper, depressed (not a normal one) and a few other things. Since my TR I have my life back. I was unable to get out of bed to go to the gym post TL. Now I'm back up in the morning and am running 5-7 miles regularly and am doing my first 5k next weekend. I feel like a million bucks, better than I did pre TL. I actually feel that because I was in such a dark place for a year and a half, that I have a new lease on life. I appreciate my health, physical and mental so much more. I appreciate my children soooo much. I felt so bad that I missed that precious time with them. I am totally making up for that. I love their good and fresh moments because for that amount of time I couldn't love much of anything due to the PTLS.

I hope this helps you to know that all of that does get better. Not just the cycle part, although I have to say that is huge for me. Went from 7 heavy days to 4 regular days!!!

May you find your happiness with your TR like so many women have here. Keep us posted.

Hi There -
Rather than repeat my long list of PTLS ailments (you can see them in the old blog of my story)..I can tell you that I had horrific ringing in my ears...It's funny..I did not get rid of it, but reading your post made me realize I have not even noticed it in months...hmmmm..I never thought of THAT as one of my PTLS issues but, hey, you never know. I gad a complete recovery from the TR. I am back to more normal periods with only one heavy day (heavier than I had before TL)...I also had miserable fatigue...falling asleep at like 8:30 on the couch and then having insomnia in the night..I hope you get relief once you cross over to the other side. Good luck.

ChrisNBrian,

I really feel for you. I also have the fuzziness and ringing of the ears along with balance/vertigo. I didn't know there was a diagnosis or name for it! My PCP just put me on Dramamine and basically told me GOOD LUCK! LOL Yep, he's the one that's tried to bury my PTLS with Lexapro, birth control and now dramamine. [Mad] [Eek!]

Anyhoo, the fuzzy, fog, fatigue feeling is HORRIBLE. I told DH that when I had a shot of stadol during my labor with my first son, it made me feel drunk and that is how I feel now 24/7. Just like I am on a constant stadol drip. I walk around like. hmmm, duh, wah? Just waiting for the next shoe to fall. [Roll Eyes]

Hang in there & God bless. You certainly arent alone.

Thank you for all the replies.

I feel so much better!

Honestly my husband has said that even if we don't get pregnant, but I get rid of some of my "problems" he will still be happy! LOL

The biggest thing I'm hoping to have the TR fix is my fatigue. I could sleep all day if I didn't have to go to work. I wake up with my whole body aching and it takes awhile for the pain to subside during the day, however by the evening all my pain is back. I think if my husband didn't have to ever rub my feet and legs again he would be thrilled!

I feel like I'm living in a cloud. Everything in my head seems fuzzy. If I don't write things down I forget. I also have been diagnosed with Meniere's disease (which is a form of tinnitus but with hearing loss). I'm not hoping for a miracle on that front, but honestly if the TR helped with that even a little bit I'd be thrilled!

Again, thanks for all the replies and keep the stories coming! It is very comforting.

Chris...I know what you mean about alot of the talk of relief being from the menstrual and other physical symptoms of PTLS and I wondered the same thing you are asking before my TR.

My major PTLS symptoms did not involve my periods or any physical pain...my main concern was the MAJOR MOOD ISSUES and fatigue!! All the others symptoms paled in comparison.

2 months post TR, I can say they are almost completely gone (I have mild PMS for maybe a couple days before my period, but it is nothing compared to before TR). I was very skeptical, but TR really works!

Chris... I had 38 out of 45 PTLS symptoms. Some of them were really severe. The funny thing is that my periods after TL became normal, as far as being 28 days on the dot. I had my TR on May 20 and within days I noticed a difference in my mental clarity, energy levels, etc. It just got better from there. My periods were only lasting for 4 days, only 1 was pretty heavy, but even at the heavy end it was much better. To date at just over 2 months all of my PTLS symptoms are gone. I was so worried as well that it was not going to work, but it did. The PTLS symptoms have been replaced by pregnancy symptoms, but that is fine with me. LOL You will get relief from most of your symptoms, if not probably all of them. Trust me, it is so worth it to feel like yourself again and not a stranger trapped in your own body. [Smile]

AF was pretty normal, but then changed to CD2&3 very heavy and pain during AF. Only a few other symptoms that I was aware of that have been totally relieved by TR (at least in my opinion); pain at O, pain during AF, major mood swings, and little to no libido. All of which have subsided since TR on 5/13/09. I am amazed at how awesome I feel. DH really notices the difference. He said, "You used to be so beetchy. Now you are much calmer, more mellow, and handle situations so much different than you used to with your freaking out."

My TR said bye bye to PTLS symptoms.

AF after TL was actually as "regular" as it ever was before. A bit heavier and diffinitel worse cramping. But my main problem was the time in between. I basically had 2-3 days a month where I felt good, and even then, "good" was relative! If I went away for a weekend I'd have to pack multiple outfits of varying comfort levels, not knowing how bloated I may or may not be on any given day. The migrains I'd gotten since I was a kid multiplied in intesity and frequency. I suffered from chronic fatigue severly... the list goes on. But... I'm almost a year past having TR and I feel great! Aside from the TTC rollercoaster, the fatigue is gone, migrains back to tolerable and I can actually be a mom and wife again! Have a blessed day and be encouraged in your TR journey!

My period is slightly heavier, but a lot more painful the first 2 days. What actually hurts me now is my ovulation, even DAYS before I ovulate. I think it is just my body trying to absorb the eggs or something or pass by the clips...who knows? I've NEVER had painful ovulation before. I also am on an emotional rollercoaster, have balance/vertigo issues with my ears (yes, this began magically the first cycle after TL and progressively is getting worse), fatigue, muscle aches, stabbing sensations under the skin, acne (never had this at all, even as a teen!), hair falling out, brittle nails, low/no libido, phantom yeast infections/itching...and so much more.

So PTLS can manifest in really weird ways. It's a horrible beast. You aren't alone [Frown] Hang in there & God bless.

Did anyone have pretty normal periods but have other PTLS relieved by surgery?

I keep reading all these posts about women who get relief from PTLS after their surgery but for the most part they talk about their periods being less heavy and painful. At this point I don't have a problem with my periods but I do have major mood swings, body aches, tiredness etc. Basically I have about 3/4 of the symptoms on the list. I'm worried that I won't get relief from those things after the surgery.

Anyone have other problems besides the period and get relief after the TR?

Thanks
