DHalaby you should really speak to your DR directly regarding your questions. If there is a question about whether your tubes are open or not you may want to ask your DR about possibly having an HSG test done.

I would think that any time there is a ligation there is necrosis to a portion of the tube. When the DR. goes in to do a reversal, if you have one done, he will remove the "dead" part and re-attached what is left of the "good" tube. It's a good sign if the doctor did see normal blood flow, hopefully your ovaries are functioning normally and if you wanted you might be able to do IVF or a tubal reversal. That could have been what the doctor meant.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood the question "why would the doctor say I could get pregnant?" But your next question should have been how do you know my tubes are open. You can't tell if the tubes are open by doing an US. You should have an HSG dye test performed. Blood flow to the ovaries does not mean tubes are open. Ovaries normally remain healthy and continue to function normally after a TL. I think you are getting worked up for nothing.

I wasn't saying anyone here would know why my doctor said it.I called the doctor and asked did that mean my tubes are open and the nurse called me back to tell me yes...I was wondering if anyone else had this experience that's all...

If your ovaries didn't have blood flow, they would die. The ovaries may get some blood flow from the tubes but not much and it's not the only source for blood flow. It is very rare to get pregnant after a tubal ligation.

I had an ultrasound on my pelvic region about a year ago. They just checked the blood flow to my ovaries as normal procedure. She changed the screen to show the blue and red (indicating blood flow) and then turned the sound up so she could hear the pumping sound. This was before my tubal reversal. They were checking for cysts. It doesn't mean anything but "those organs are receiving a blood supply". Which they need in order to function.
When they tied your tubes, they do not touch the ovaries..just fallopian tubes - the tubes that carry the egg to the uterus.. So the egg cannot meet the sperm for fertilization. In very rare cases does the tubal ligation fail. hope this helps

You need to request your medical records in regards to you TL. If you had a TL you cannot get pregnant except in a very rare occasion. I don't know about the blood flow thing, but it sounds like you need some straight answers from your DR. Sorry I couldn't be much more help than that.
