I have Anthem BCBS of N.H. and they do not cover it at all. Like Stephanie said if your employer had purchased a rider covering the procedure then it would be covered. Let me know if you have any questions we just got our bew benefit book. I work with health insurance all day so I know every plan is different but... Michelle

StephSH, that was a very informative post! Ladies, please be sure to obtain your response from your insurance carriers in writing. As StephSH mentioned, if you are not honest with regards to the procedure and your previous desire for elective sterilization, you may be advised incorrectly.

Hi, I used to work for Anthem, all I can tell you is that you need to read your plan document/benefit book very carefully in the non covered section and see if it's excluded and also look in the index under infertility benefits. That should give you an idea if it will be covered. The employer normally picks the benefits that they want to pay for (most plans that cover infertility cost the employer more). Also you can call them and ask, but if you want to be sure it is covered, you have to be honest with them about what the procedure is, otherwise, they may tell you its covered when it might not actually be. No I have BCBS of NC and they would not cover anything even remotely related to my tr, except my bloodwork I just had Dr. M send an order over to my gyno and they did by bloodwork and filed my ins no questions were asked and I paid my $15 copay becuase I think the blood work can run a couple hundred dollars. But GL getting them to cover it, if they do you will be one of the lucky ones. Jennifer TR Monday Aug 4th
