Tlm, what type of Tricare did your friend have? Was it Standard, Prime or what? Where did she have her procedure done?

Thanks for the info. Tricare didnt pay for the ligation to begin with but they did refer me out to a specialist for either surgery or IVF. Seems like they do it on a case by case basis. Either way...i scheduled the surgery with Dr Berger so if they do reimburse me or not, I'm still moving forward! [Wink]

Plan on getting nothing back from tricare. I know someone in tricare south got $250 roughly and I am in the north region and wasnt able to get anything. I might still send a claim but after talking with them they said that we needed Dr info on why it was needed. If you want my opinion is that tricare wont pay anything if you had tricare pay to have them tied in the first place but if not then the most I have heard from people getting back is about $800. Good luck

I have been trying to get as much info as possible to try to get TriCare to reimburse me for some of the cost. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Anything special that you had to do when submitting the claim? Also i am with Tricare South if that has any bearing. I havent scheduled my surgery yet since I'm trying to get an idea of how much this will truly end up costing [Confused] out of pocket!

markeisha I had my TR done there at Chapel Hill a little over a yr ago... When you are done a reciept will be mailed to you by Chapel Hill. This will be all you need to file a claim. Once you have returned home and have this you can then pull Tricares claim form and fill it out step by step and submit with a copy of the rec they send you. You then wait and hope they send something.. I was refunded about 700.00 back. I know this does not seem like alot but it was something. I also took advantage of the 1000.00 discount through CH for payment immed.. This was all very much worth it since I now have a beautiful baby boy who is 4 months old...

However as mentioned above you can get it done at a Tricare Mecical Cenetr and it will cover 100% however it is a long wait and no guarentee with the combat injuries coming back...

Also one additional note, These guys are great and I would not choose anyone else, not to mention the support of the women around you!!!!

PS.. You can also write off the medical expenses on your taxes to get back and save even more!!!

Good Luck

The Military pays you back partially with a certain code put on your paperwork if done at Chapel Hill or anywhere else. But Tricare does also pay for the TR totally if you get it done at a fertility clinic on a Texas base. I cant remember the name of the base and ther eis a waiting list.

Markeisha, the codes that Stephanie offered are for the diagnosis and procedure. "Coded correctly" may indicate that they will need supporting evidence that your reason for needing the tubal reversal is necessary rather than elective. It has also been my experience that TriCare will generally cover only when you are treated by military physicians or participating physicians. CHTRC is non-participating so you would need to pay in full out of pocket and have TriCare reimburse you. If you'd like information about the prepayment account, please feel free to email me at ErickaP*tubal-reversal.net.

Thanks for the information. I was told that the military would pay for it if it was coded correctly. Are these the general codes or the codes that you know have been used to bill the military?

I hope other military people will respond and let you know their situations. If you want to just call and ask then here is some information that may help. The insurance code (ICD-9) for bilateral tubal occlusion is 628.2. The procedure code (CPT) for tubotubal anastomosis is 58750. Good luck!

I am trying to get started with a TR but cannot afford to pay on my own. I was told that I may be able to get the military to pay for it. Does anyone have any information on this??
