We would like to be notified of ALL pregnancies. This is the only way to document the outcome of each pregnancy as determined by a positive pregnancy test. A "chemical pregnancy" is actually a very early miscarriage, before the pregnancy can be identified on ultrasound examination. This does mean, however, that the tubal reversal was successful as the egg was able to be fertilized. We hope that the next pregnancy will be a viable one!

I wouldn't report to CH until you confirm the pregnancy is viable. Others may disagree but I think it throws off the stats if women report too early.
Also, it is very common for women to have AF like bleeding when AF is due and still be pregnant. I read that it is common at 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks - not surprisingly when AF would be due. Typically that type of bleeding tends to stop at the end of the first trimester.
So, it is very possible that you caught it early and that your body is going through AF like bleeding but the pregnancy could continue.
Unfortunately, it is also possible that it could be a very early miscarriage which is very common. Most women go through what you're going through without every knowing they are pregnant.
I would suggest you start the early monitoring recommended by Dr. Berger. At this point I would say it is too early to know for sure which way things are going to go.
The good news is that you know you CAN get pregnant. I know that is little comfort if something goes wrong but for many women that knowledge helps get through a loss.
Wishing you the best of luck! Let us know what happens.

I would wait and test again. You can occassionaly get a test that appears to be positive but isn't. Always confirm with a second test or b/w before reporting, unless the first test is a blaring positive. Otherwise it throws off the statistics that they keep. Chemicals can occur commonly, but you would still see a positive, unless it is missed before AF arrives. I hope you get a sticky one soon!

Yes, you would still report it. If you had this sort of bleeding before it is possible that it is viable. It may be a chemical pregnancy, but try to hang in there till you know. I had my TR on 5/20 and will find out by next week if we are pregnant. I have had 3 m/c so I know what you are going through. Look on the bright side. It looks like you can get pregnant easily. If this is not a viable pregnancy you will get one and everything will be fine. In the Lord's timing all things are perfect. I will be praying for you as you go to your appointment today. God Bless!!! Heather

ok, so this was my first month ttc & my TR was on 04/01/09. Yesterday was CD 26 for me with a regular 26 day cycle so I tested when I woke up at 5am with a slight +, I woke up at 12am this morning with almost a whole weeks worth of AF, and I have a h/a from hell. I have an appt with my OB/GYN later this morning, but is this what is referred to as a chemical pregnancy? I've had bleeding like this once before on my 3rd pregnancy but it turned out to be viable (I didn't know I was pregnant at that time)but of course since I was looking to get pregnant, I think I caught the +, and it may not stick. Just wanted some encouragement and advice while waiting for my appt. Would I still have to report to CHTRC of the pregnancy even if it is a chemical one? Thanks for any support.
