I am such an idiot....They do cover it, but I DO have to pay for it out of pocket and they will reimburse me. They sent me an e-mail saying so ( I printed it out for proof....hehe). Gosh, I didn't realize how stressful this would be!!! I thought it was stressful trying to find out if I would EVER be able to get the surgery, and now that I can get it I am trying to find a flaw. I just wish I could just chill out and breathe. I guess I should just thank my lucky stars and be grateful!!! Thanks for you help!!!

I see... that is tough...I would call them and find out how they suggest you proceed. and get the name of the person that "suggested" the plan. Its a pain waiting on hold but...you gotta do it. good luck . let us know what they say!

That is what I'm doing. I'm using my 2010 FSA not my 2009. My election papers for next years FSA are due Nov. 13th 2009. I don't want to put the full amount if they wont even cover it. My question is if you used your FSA to pay for your surgery, how did you schedule it since you have to put down the full amount at the time of scheduling? Did you pay out of your own pocket and then get reimbursed by FSA later? I have been using FSA for years, but never for something that required pre-paying.

I have a question about the flex spending account. I am going to use it for a reversal in 2010, but they wont let me pay for the services before I actually get them done. So, I am going to borrow the money from my dad and then pay him back when they reimburse me. I have to give them a detailed receipt and they will deposit the funds into my bank account. I just wanted to hear other people's experience with their FSA. My FSA already told me that tubal reversal is an eligible expense, but I just have a HUGE fear that they will not reimburse me and I will have to find another way to pay my dad back. Please anyone who can offer any input on their experience with FSA would be very helpful. I am waiting until I hear a little more about FSA to schedule a date for my reversal.

I used my company FSA too, other wise it would have taken about 2 income taxes to cover it! And yes, the tax benefit is great!!!! Thanks for sharing everyone!

That is what I am using for my surgery next year a FSA it is so worth it. We are provided a card with the master card logo but you want to make sure your services is rendered during that plan year.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the flex spending account...and also with your ins co. We're in the same boat. No cc's, no $ lying around and in desperate need of a reversal (PTLS). I've seen others mention flexcare spending accounts and mentioned it to my DH. He had the chance to set up an account in June before we knew of this! He will be talking to his HR dept though, to see if he can still do one or if we have to wait until next year.

I used my flex account as well! Otherwise it would have been a much longer journey. I hope other people realize they can use it as well. The tax benefit alone was worth it!

There is so much variation in insurance policies. We have a hard time responding to patients when they ask if their surgery will be covered. Thanks for sharing your experience with the flex account.

I was so worried on how to come up with the money to pay for my surgery... I didn't have any credit cards and didn't have the extra cash laying around....
This is what I did: My employer offered a flex spending account, which I signed up for... I was able to use it for my surgery (because it had a Mastercard logo on it). Once I had the surgery I submitted my paper work to my insurance company (Cigna) who kept telling me they don't cover the surgery at all... well they ended up covering 70%...it is worth a shot....
