I had a TT 2 years ago. I am all healed and have always been under 140lbs. I have a new belly button and I wonder how my body will handle a new pregnancy...I am 2 months into TTC> I am glad to hear your stomach went right back down...I had my abs tightened..that might help?

I had a TT after my second child in '97. Had my TR in 2007 and just had my TR baby in July. I had ZERO problems with preg or delivery as a result of having the TT. I watched very closely what I ate with the TR pregnancy and only gained 24 pounds. Lost it all right away and my stomach is pretty close to what it was after the TT surgery.

Good luck!!!

Onemoreis6,

I searched the internet for months to find just ONE woman who was pregnant after a TT. I am SO glad that you are here. Will you continue to post throughout your pregnancy?

Onemore..thank you for telling us. I knew there were others with TT but you are the first that I remember that's been PG.

With my third pregnancy (I had 4) for some reason I carried him more IN my body. When I was 9 months pg, I looked more like 6 months. That's probably what will happen with PG after TT.

I had a TT back in 97 when my 4th child was 1/1/2 - I was up to 200 lbs when I had her, and within 1 year I got on this huge exercise mission and lost 80 lbs got to 13 % bodyfat and was a work out Maniac,,seriously,, I was rock hard and even had fully developed abd muscles - I worked out 4 hours every day !! but my skin was disgusting and the stretch marks YUCK - so I had a TT to remove the extra 8 inches of skin - There was NO Lipo involved, but the Dr. did put my muscles back together and fixed a couple small hernias.. I too was done having kids,, I'd had my tubes cut...
now I'm almost 3months PG,, 9 years later,, the only thing I notice is I'm just not showing like I was w/ the other kids.. and my tummy is bigger around my belly button and above than bellow,, it's like my Uterus is being held in still.. My Scar is pretty big,, from hip bone to hip bone and the TR scar is about 2 inches below it..

I feel compelled to defend....

I didn't start any of my pregnancies overweight, nor did I gain an excessive amount of weight during pregnancies. I have been blessed or cursed maybe [Smile] with genetics that has poor elasticity of the skin. It stretched out beyond exercises repair. There is nothing sexy about a fit woman with a stretched out pooch of flesh hanging from her abdomen and I enjoy feeling sexy. I will be the first to admit...I am vain!

I feel better now.

I talked to my PS and he said that mesh was used. Does this mean I can't have TR?

I had my kids 11 months apart. I had lost all the weight from my first pregnancy (25 lbs) but my skin hadn't quite bounced back when I found out I was pregnant again (30 lb weight gain 2nd pregnancy) - mine was due to loss of skin elasticity not excessive weight gain.

Dear Ladies,

There is one consistent message here in this thread: don't gain too much weight when you're pregnant! I know this may be easier said than done - but women who start with a healthy normal body weight prior to pregnancy are usually advised to gain about 25 - 35 pounds total during the pregnancy. Women who start out overweight may be advised to gain less than this. When you are pregnant please do not use your pregnancy as an excuse to eat as much as you want - instead, eat a nutritious diet and eliminate empty calories. Later on, you'll be glad you did!

Nic..I had my TT when my 3 girls were ages 6,4 & 2, it was tough for my little one because I couldn't pick her up. My mother wasn't working at the time and stayed for about a week to help out...I have a pretty high tolerance for pain but that was the most painful thing I have experienced so far. I had a complete TT and muscle repair. I am hoping to have my TR done in March..I am only 28 and don't regret having the TT. I gained so much weight with my 1st pregnancy and kept adding on the pounds with the 2nd two..I have since been to weight watchers and lost about 90Lbs so I had alot of gross skin and would get a rash in the summer (yuck!) I am glad I had the TT done..if I didn't I think there would have been to much skin there to even get a TR so I don't regret it...I am hoping to only gain a healthy amount of weight if I can ever be pregnant again and will hope my tummy isn't a total wreck afterwards!! My PS would probably freak if he knew I wanted to have another baby and wreck the great job he did!!! Hope this helps...by the way its been about 1 1/2 years since I had it done.

You're fortunate to have such elastic skin! Congratulations on your 5 children. (You GO GIRL!!) My boys were 7 and 4 when I had a TT. My DH was able to take a full week off work to help (not just help, he had to do everything!!)You won't be able to take care of your children. I had to sleep sitting up in a recliner for the first several nights and couldn't even get up to pee! Then you switch to sleeping in a jack-knif position for I don't remember how long but it's a while. They will repair just your muscle, as far as I know and, I hate to tell you, but that is the painful part. Go on to some of the plastic surgery websites and read people's experiences. I LOVE my new tummy!! I will be sad to see it go, but the surgery was significant enough that I do not think I will do it again.
On a lighter note, my tube lengths are the same as yours! lol
