Califmom, I would strongly suggest that you get the wheelchair. You can get up and walk around the airport if needed during your layover but airports are so big and busy that you will want to have that available to you. plus you get to board first and get settled into your seat instead of standing and inching along the narrow aisle.

Good morning ladies. I just wanted to ask that after Tr I can call the airline and they will bring a wheelchair for me. I just want to make sure that it is there for me if needed. I am going to try and walk since i am staying an extra day but you never know since i have a layover on our way back, and our flight is almost 7 hrs. Thanks for the input. Have a great weekend im off to work.. Kari

Hi, I am from the UK and stayed an extra day. After that I had to change planes twice. I like some of the others on here told the airline I had surgery and they had a wheelchair waiting for me at every airport (together with all the old and frail people). However I also asked for a seat with extra legroom (front or emergency exit) and that really helped.

I notified the airline that I was having surgery and they had a wheelchair for me at curbside check-in that took me all the way to the gate and there was a wheelchair waiting for me when I landed back in my home town that took me all the way to the curb where I waited for my sis to get the car. Good luck on your surgery, I know that the ice pack helped a lot while in the airport and on the plane ride.

Hi I had my TR 4/10/07 and I stayed an extra day after. Even though I did I was really slow at the airport getting on and off the plane. I just took my time there was nothing I could do to move faster. I got off the plane last because I knew i could not walk fast and I was really sore. Everyone had to walk around me because I was moving like a turle. All I can say is take your time don't let anyone rush you.
I have not had my TR yet but I can offer a suggestion. I work in a Dr.s office and the biggest concern with flying is a blood clot. To avoid that make sure you walk and move around whenever possible, this keeps everything moving. Best of luck with your TR! Michelle

Hi.. I stayed an extra day.. but i went shopping the next day.. out to eat and such. I felt ok, just a little slow getting up and down. You can get a wheelchair at the airport.. which isn't a bad idea if you're moving slow. Dont overdo it.. wishing you well!

I have quite a day of travel the day after TR and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions or can tell me what they felt like the day after TR. I will be leaving on my first flight to Atlanta at 1:30 then I have a 3 hr 54 min. layover in atlanta then get on a flight home and arrive home at 8:30 at night.
I'm a litte worried that I won't feel very well especially walking through the Atlanta airport as it's HUGE. I am worried about the long trip home but I'm sure other women have done it before so any suggestions or comments would be great.
