Hi Ladies- I am now on the other side!!! Dr. B and staff is so wonderful- I want to write a thank you message to him but the last one posted by Eric'sgirl- Chrissy was just too beautiful and said everything I could possibly hope to say. I'll give it a few days till the pain meds are out of my system- but I really can't stress how great an experience it was.
OK, I can give a run down on how Monday appointments go. First you get to meet with all the ladies in the hotel lobby- very supportive time here, even with the ladies that don't post on here. Viv, Amber, and another lady Barb were all pretty wonderful and had charming DH's. Viv scared us as she and her DH drove instead of taking the shuttle- we thought she overslept!!
Immediately as you get to CHTR any paperwork to do with billing is completed- like if you paid with a credit card or flex account, they need to see it and take the imprint. They then take the picture of you and your DH or DF. Then they take the first person back to meet with Dr. B (I was first today). He explains the protocol of when you get pregnant, and has you sign some paperwork. He also asks why you want to have this done. I think this is the way he can personalize your case so that you aren't just another patient- he does perform quite a few surgeries and I think its great that he tries to get to know you in just those brief moments.
After that you go with a nurse who verifies things about your case- ie- allergies, special situations. DH is with you up to this point, but now goes to the waiting room. You then have your temp and BP taken and are weighed and measured. The weighing is done fully clothed btw, so if you are close to BMI, keep that in mind. You then use the bathroom if needed for the vaginal ultrasound. You then have a vaginal ultrasound, short and sweet. They are just looking for any anomalies in uterus and ovaries that could affect fertility. They also take measurements of lining and ovaries.
Then you are reunited with DH, and taken downstairs to the surgery center. You are escorted to the bathroom where a gown, robe, hairnet, and footies will be donned. You can also use the bathroom again prior to surgery if needed. Then you and DH meet with some of the nurses and the anesthesia Dr. (Who was really really really nice!) She counsels you as to what will happen, confirms your stats from the phone interview and really reassures you. She also writes the word yes on your abdomen. Then it was time for the IV. They first warm you up with a warm blanket and bag of warm water. Mine took 3 tries, but I just have icky veins- they really are skilled. First you get a shot with lidocaine to numb you before they insert the IV needle. Then you are instructed to hug and kiss DH before you part ways. (I know, what a chore!! LOL)
You walk into the surgical room and meet the rest of the staff that will be on your team. The OR table is tiny and they help you sit on it properly. You get some meds into your IV and then also breathe from a mask. And off you go!! Recovery is nice- just a sleepy warm fuzzy feeling. I'm a little shy when meeting new people, but for whatever reason was just really talking alot in recovery- whatever I was thinking, I was saying with no filter in between lmao! I don't think I said anything embarrassing lol. DH rejoins you as soon as the first vitals are taken. After 15 minutes or so, Dr. B comes to talk to you- it really is a good idea to make sure DH will remember what he says to you- you're still a little foggy.
When you seem awake enough, you are moved to a recliner in another room. You are given some juice and finish the IV fluids before you are assessed to go back to the hotel. They don't try to rush you, but if you feel more comfortable at the hotel, they will let you go as soon as the fluid intake is complete and you seem able to go. I know this was a long post, but I hope it was informative if you could muddle through it! There's still alot to be said, but I'm tired and I think I got all the steps down right Traci

Hi all, We made it home just fine last night and I am feeling pretty good today after finally be able to have a BM...sorry TMI. I haven't even needed the pain meds today, but continue to take ibuprofen to help with any swelling. I honestly cannot believe how good I feel for having had surgery two days ago. I do notice that when I sit for awhile it takes a minute to kind of stretch out, but once I start moving around I'm okay. DF and I did meet up with Amber as we were leaving CH yesterday. It was really nice to be able to meet and put a face to a name. This is such a supportive group of women. I know I cannot really share this experience with just anyone...haven't told many people because I'm afraid they wouldn't understand. But you all do understand what I'm going through and why I'm willing to do it. I also met a couple of other women who had TR on the same day and am hoping they will be joining us on the message board. Thanks for all of your prayers and continued support and know that you all have my best wishes for long healthy tubes that lead to BFPs and healthy babies. Val
I am so sorry I have not keep in touch this past week. But my husband and I have been in the process of moving into a new office and have been working, painting and installing baseboard on the walls from 7 to 11 almost every night. I am kind of glad because I havent had any time to think about the surgery.
Well its Sat. around 4pm, I got to the hotel around 2 and fell asleep. I was so tired!
TRACI AND AMBER: Where are you guys. I am so excited and dying to meet you girls.
NC is very nice and people are great compare to Miami, Florida.
My husband is watching the New Egland game and after I want to go have dinner and get some things for after surgery.
VAL; I hope you are having a fast recovery.
TR SIS: Keep a prayer for TRACI, AMBER and MYSELF for great tubes, fast recovery and plenty of BABY DUST. Best of wishes to all my upcoming TR

Va40- I hear that there are some HPT that can detect the HcG hormone at 10 dpo. So that would be before your missed period but you can wait till you miss AF to test. A lot of the HPT are more reliable then anyway.
Well FF puts me to ovulate on the 18th; the day before surgery so I am out! Oh well! Like my husband said we have time don't rush it!!! LOL Hope you catch that egg VA40! Be the first to give us some "positive" news!!!!

Hey all, I'm at the Sheraton! We arrived 2 hours b4 check-in, poor DH is soooooo tired, he hasn't got any sleep yet! Actually I didn't get alot either as I was so nervous/excited about the trip. I was pretty dissapointed in the Sheraton's shuttle service- because we couldn't check in for 2 hours we decided to go have lunch and were told to just call them when we wanted to come back. So we called right after eating and were told we had to wait 1 1/4 hours because the shuttle driver was running errands! Totally not the news we wanted to hear after a day starting so early! Ah well, hopefully that will be the worst thing to happen on this trip and the rest will all go smooth sailing!! Viv and Amber- I will probable resting up till later this evening- if we don't find each other, I guess I'll see you in the morning!! Lots of luck- Traci
Welcome to the other side... Wishing you a speedy recovery!! Remember it only take's one tube! one egg! and ane sperm! and hun you have it all...good luck now on your journey TTC.
