That 'cough' had become a habit with me. I'd lie down at night and have to clear my throat a dozen times before I'd go to sleep. (tummy sleeper). DH would say..'do you have a cold?'. ..nah, just my throat. I still do it sometimes just to bug him...

I have the "little clear your throat cough", too. It bothers me. I know it's annoying to ones around me also..it just has to be. I hate the feeling that goes along with it, too. I'm trying, but not still not quite there yet. It's really disappointing too. I'm beating myself up about it. No one can do it for me, though. It's up to me! So, I can't blame anyone but myself.

I think what you all our doing for your health and for your future is fantastic. I wish you all the best with this. I know quitting can be very difficult, but it will definitely be worth it. The support on this message board from women going through the same situation has to be comforting. Take care.

Oh my, klinger...I thought $5 a pack was bad...here, in WV, that's what it costs for those awful tasting 'specialty' cigarettes I started on, which is also a huge factor in my quitting. And I agree about that little 'cough'. I hadn't realized I did that alot until now...and I can smell things that I couldn't before...

Yes SharonVS - the expense is a good point too! Here in the Boston area they are now $6 - $7 a pack so it's nice to not be throwing away all that money!

I will say, (and this is a small thing, but I noticed it and was a good thing... )...my hair smells GOOD now....lol! I know, before, (I was always an outdoors smoker)...my hair always had that state smokey smell; even when it was freshly washed, I could smell a tinge of smoke. Now, that's gone, and it's so obvious that I noticed that myself..I'm sure my DH is a happy boy now...they were getting more and more espensive...

Lisa, I can tell that I'm a bit more...'edgy'..little noises make me jump straight up. Lots of stress going on with me, too, so that may be it. As for wanting to eat more, it's not like that for me. I have been done with them for over two weeks so far, and that's got to be past the withdrawal phase, and I can't say I've had too many....

Hi Lisa - yes, it's only been a few weeks for me, but it's nice that my little "clearing my throat" cough is gone already and I just generally feel healthier. That and I don't feel guilty now...I kept thinking with each cigarette that I could be adversely affecting my fertility by smoking. Now I don't have to beat myself up about that every day.
Now I'm tackling the caffeine beast :-) That seems to be going well too...almost all decaf at this point (can't quite give up that first cup of regular coffee in the morning.) But I just want to be as healthy as possible for my TR on 8/25/08 & for TTC after so that's a great motivator.
