Dear Toots, You do not have to be seen by your local physician before coming for surgery. As you can see there are patients that chose to be seen prior to surgery so that they can inform their physician of their plans and their needs after surgery. I hope that this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if I can assist you with anything. I look forward to meeting you in the near future. Rhonda

Hi Toots, it can never hurt to be very careful and responsible about this. If that means you should have your local GYN or PCP check a few things to get yourself in order for the surgery then go for it. Your future baby's health depends on yours!
I know its not required but I went to the obgyn to make sure everything was okay and to let them know I was going to be have the TR and there are certain protocols we have to follow when I get my BFP.

Hey Toots... My being 45, and not having been to a doctor in awhile, I made the choice on my own to have an exam. My doctor sent me for a mammogram, which I've never had...and a ultrasound of my uterus...just to make sure everything in there was good to go.....whew, it all turned out to be fine. This was just a choice I made, but it did make me feel much better knowing these little 'extras'...

Hi Toots, Unless things have changed, you don't have to have a checkup before surgery unless you want to. Of course, there is a medical questionnaire you have to fill out, & based on your answers CH may ask you for further tests, but the required lab tests are listed under VIP questions...CBC, HIV, Hep-B & Hep-C. You may want to have cd3 FSH & Estradiol checked to assure yourself you're still fertile enough to go through with it. After the TR, it isn't necessary to see your doc unless you want him/her to check out your incision & make sure it's healing correctly, etc. I'm with you - I always have to get all the info I can before I do something. Good luck! Tara TR 5-1-06

My husband is out of town. When I talked to him tonight he asked me if I am suppose to have a check up before having TR. I haven't come across anything on this reading on the board. Can anyone tell me?
My mind won't stop! I also worry about getting appointment with OBGYN if and when I need to. It's always such a wait to get in to see the doctor. What do you have to do to insure you can be seen? Do you need to be examined at some point AFTER TR??
I apologize if these questions are something I should know or seem obvious. I just worry about things. I like having all the information and having everything lined out.
