One of the first concerns about any surgery is whether the procedure will be painful! Our nurses and doctors closely assess post-operative discomfort and collect information from each patient on the day following surgery. Based on a pain score of 0 - 10 (with zero meaning no pain and 10 the worst imaginable), tubal reversal patients at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center report an average pain score of 2.3 on the day following surgery. This means that patients can move around comfortably and discomfort is easily controlled with the medications provided when patients leave the facility. Although everyone recovers from surgery at a different rate, the majority of the women who have tubal reversal surgery performed at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center are able to return to work in 5 - 7 days and are back to the majority of their usual activities within 7 - 10 days.
Everyone responds differently to surgery. The incision will be numb when you leave our facility and like the other members said, stay on top of your pain medication and alternate pain medication every 4-6hrs and ibuprofen every 4hrs. This will really help a lot!

I think you will be fine as long as you take the meds on time and alternate the pain meds with the Ibuprofen and you will be fine. I think walking around helps you to get better faster so rest and then walk a little bit ans rest so more all will be fine. goodluck

I had my TR last week. I was in a lot of pain, but that is mostly because they had to implant one of my tubes into the side of my uterus. This was more painful because then my uterus was also cut on. Of course it did not help that I started AF like 20 minutes before surgery. But they gave me some stronger meds and I was fine. As long as you stay ahead of the pain and you are not trying to play catch up with the pain you will be fine. For a few days it is good to take the meds on schedule even if you are not in severe pain. If you wait till you are hurting a lot it takes more to get the pain back under control. Good luck and you will be fine.

if those two had just came back from surgery, they would have probably been too medicated to be feeling much, or didn't take another pill after the surgery. I know I slept most of the afternoon away the day of my surgery, then took another pain med when I woke up, before going to dinner. Try not to phych yourself out. You'll be OK! Just take it easy when you get back.

alwayshope .. everyone is different. I had my TR on 5/11. When I got back to the hotel, I took a 3 or 4 hour nap and then DF and I went out for dinner and went shopping and I did well. Make sure you take the pain medication prescribed and don't push yourself too hard, and you will do fine. I was scared too, but it was all for nothing. Best of luck on your TR!
