M, bless your heart! Maybe on the way back, when you need it the most, things will go better!

We kinda got stuck at O'Hare too and I was ok at first, however, my Dh was getting a little "ugly" about it. Our flight was delayed, but on half way home on that flight from O'Hare I started feeling like total crap. So, then it was both of us feelin' a little "ugly". [Smile]

We made it though. More important, HE made it. Because when he is ugly it's tolerable, when I am ugly...not so much. [Eek!]

A suggestion, you probably wont have to change flights, but after surgery and on our way back we had to walk a long ways at O'Hare to get to the next terminal for connecting flights. I guess my pain meds were working really good and I decided I would walk the entire way. I was totally regretting doing that later.

Atlanta is so much better with the shuttle/tram thingy.

I hope you get some rest, you might be too excited to sleep anyways!

Lots of luck,
Cindy

Oh boy, I'm steamin! I'm at O'hare and our flight has been delayed 3 and a half hours!! That puts us getting in at 3:30 am or so. Crap! I feel awful for the lady that does the shuttle from the airport to the hotel. [Frown] I am going to be an absolute train wreck tomorrow morning with no sleep. [Eek!]

I did better buying my own food and taking it with us to CH. What you get in the little box is not a lot. So plan ahead.

I was told opon check in' that there were sending the fridge and microwave up to the room and was given a nice little gift box with the soup jello and other stuff that you can eat after surgery '' I think that the amenities that they refer to is just the fridge and Microwave ''

Congrat and have a safe trip'''

I didnt even tell the front desk I was there for the TR. I just kept it to myself. Cause I am sneaky and wanted to see if I was treated any differently. lol I think it's the basket of goodies. We went with booking online like you, it was cheaper for tickets, room, and rental car this way. We really liked the hotel and were not dissapointed.

Hi, Ladies:

I do recommend making your reservations online using our discount code - or through the hotel directly - since there will be no way for the hotel to know you are a patient at our facility if you book through Priceline, Expedia, etc. However, I want to assure everyone that you will receive the "CHTRC Goodie Basket" with soup, juice, etc. Those items are provided to all of our patients - regardless of how the reservation was booked. Simply tell the hotel front desk that you are a patient of Dr. Berger or Dr. Monteith when you check in.

I am really not sure what other "amenities" they are referring to since you should still receive our discounted rate. If you run into problems on check-in, you can ask for Andrea Lockwood or Sean Parker who handle our account. Please let us know as well.

Julia S., RN

This may be due also to maybe the booking agency not using Dr. B's Code? The one that is provided on his website for the booking procedures?

Don't worry. Just ask for a manager once you check in and say you are a patient. They will get you the stuff at the front desk and they will most certainly bring the stuff up. Trust me, they are not going to take any chances you leaving the room.

I'm sure it's because it wasn't done directly through them. I just wanted others to be aware that they may not get the same CHRTC treatment if you don't book directly through the hotel. The price I paid for the flight and hotel combo will more than cover the lost amenities I guess. Oh well *sigh*

Anyhow, my nerves are really kicking into high gear now, less than 48 hours and our journey begins! [Wink]

Hmm this kind of makes no sense, seeing that you are still a patient of Dr. Bergers and are going to be staying there because your getting the TR done,

I don't see why it maters who calls and makes the arrangements, weather it be you , or your husband, or your mom or anyone else for that matter, because those arrangements are still going to be for you and your TR,...

The only thing that i can think of that may interfere with this would be if the place you went with, for your travel and booking gave you a bigger discount therefore your not actually paying for the animineties from the Hotel?..

But if that Discount was just for the traveling part of your trip and not the hotel then i do not understand why they would take those extra treats from you.. or at least offer them to you for a certain extra charge at least.

I think this may have occured because the hotel has certain rooms set aside for CHTRC patients. I think it is a technicality issue. Being a patient of CHTRC they really should include the amenities, but I guess you have to follow the protocol in reserving a room directly through them. [Confused]

The only ones I can think of are the refrigerator and microwave that we had in our room. We also got a bag with apple juice, chicken soup, and a couple other things we could eat/drink after surgery. I would think you would still get that. HTH

I think they are talking about the basket of goodies, like soup, juice, stuff like that for after surgery, also probably the frige. HTH

I just wanted to share with the ladies that have yet to make reservations with the Sheraton something I found out today.
I called to verify my reservation for Sunday evening and was told that because I chose to go with making my travel arrangements with a well known online booking company (flight and hotel), that I would not be receiving any "amenities" during my stay. [Frown]
What "amenities" they're talking about, I'm not quite sure... but I just wanted to throw that out there.
