40plusplusclub-

I'm thinking I got so bloated because of AF showing up right after surgery and also because I didn't have a BM for a 1 1/2 days which is completely abnormal for me. They advised me to take Gas-ex which I did and I continued to walk which helped tremendously. I hope that you are still having a smooth recovery.

When a woman has not had surgery at CHTRC - and Alicia had her surgery in Canada and not with us - it is impossible to assess how normal the recovery symptoms are. For our patients, extreme discomfort for two weeks requiring family assistance is not usual at all! In fact, I am not sure I recall ever hearing that in 14 years of working here. People do recover at different rates and have different thresholds for pain, but the majority of our patients are able to return to work in 3-5 days and resume most normal activities within a week to ten days.

Hi, Alicia/Brandy/Hope2beMommy:

I am sorry to hear that you were so uncomfortable following your surgery. I tried to pull your file to review your situation, but I do not see a record for you in November 2007. Did you have your surgery at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, and if so, what was the exact date of your procedure?

You find out 6-12 months after TR if the tubes are clogged by HSG. I am 1 of the 5% that both close.
Good luck ladies..Many women get PG by then and know that their tubes are open. My pain was horrible too. I am very active and am not used to being so limited. See you on the boards.

I just had my TR on Oct 29th and I feel really good. I really have not had alot of pain or discomfort. I'm just a little sore and tight but walking around helps that. I also had 2 c-sections, this is nothing compared to that and even that was not too bad.

Hope everyone heals fast and GL ttc.

wow
reading these posts you ladies are lucky after my Tr in Nov 07, i came home in so much pain, i had my mom living with me for 2 weeks , while Dh was operating his bussiness ,i could not even get up to go to the bathroom by myself my mom had to walk with me, i could not even wash myself my poor husband washed me 3 days after surgery and it was so painful, I thought my stomach was gonna blow i wore a girdle to keep it tight in place, i was walking like i had just finished giving birth mind you i had both of my kids Natural no meds no nothing and there were 8 pound babies, the pain felt worse then having them,, Consider you ladies lucky with the minor pain you had, I was on Tylenol 3's with codine for 2 weeks every 4 hrs and lost about 30 pounds cause i could not even eat... Maybe it was the cut i never had a C-section, so maybe all the pain was cause of that but wow coming to my 1 year of Tr Reversal.. It was the best thing i did But it was painful.. wish you all the best!!!!!

I think it all depends...I felt great later that same day. We went and had dinner with friends that live in the area and then later had dessert with my BIL. He kept freaking out because he couldn't believe I'd had surgery that same day. I was a little more sore the next day but not much.

I had the tr on 10/22. Thankfully, I have not had pain either just a bit sore the first few days. I started walking again this week which has helped overcome the stiffness that would set in. The bloating was bad the first few days though [Embarrassed]
Having the stiches out was a relief, the incision has healed beautifully!
Take your time and rest when you need to! Happy healing and of course ttc! [Wink]

I think having had a c-section before lessens the pain. It is pretty minor in pain compared to a c-section. I have had four of those (plus an appendectomy and choleocystectomy) so this was like a walk in the park. But I think the ladies that have never had any form of abdominal surgery have the most difficult time with it, but even for them it is over within a week. Good to know at least the c-section has prepared you for better pain tolerance. Enjoy TTC!

I know not to over do it, but I am glad I am without pain so far. What did you do for the bloating? What do you think caused the bloating? I may bloat anyway because I usually do 1 week prior to AF and that would be about now.

I had my TR on Thursday (10/30) and I have pretty much been pain free. After coming back to the hotel I slept for about four hours then DH and I went out and walked through a couple stores and got a small bite to eat. I do start to get stiff when meds are wearing off but as long as I keep them in my system I'm just fine. I was getting pretty bloated though that has been my biggest discomfort. I hope you keep feeling great.

Thanks, maybe my pain tolerance had gone up.

I thought it was fairly pain free, but then I handled my two c-sections well also, I was back at work after three weeks when I had my son so everyone's pain tolerance is different.

I believe that, if it happens, it's later on. That's a definite nurse question, because I sure don't want to misinform you. If you noticed the nurse, Julia, she's always been really super at answering any medical questions I've had in the past..she'd help you with that.. [Smile]

I think he is afraid to touch me right now. He thinks I am going to break. I ovulate on day 13, so I won't harass him too much. Hey I was reading on another thread and someone was speaking of a blocked tube. It was hard to follow the conversation, but Dr. B would know right after surgery if there were blocked tubes right? or does that happen later?
