I found this post today, and it made me feel so much better. I had honestly thought I might be the only one dealing with this. My husband's entire family knows, and are all happy. On the other hand, I decided not to tell my sisters or anybody until we become pregnant...my kids and everyone else knows, but my sisters are really close to each other, but I'm not extremely close to either one of them, so I really feel like they'll react negatively. It's just another stress I don't need right now. Glad to know there are others who understand. [Smile]

I am 35, but I had to comment. I told one of my ex's and his reponse was "Oh boy, can't you just adopt another cat or something?". LOL!

We told our parents while we were thinking about the procedure. We knew they would be thrilled, so no problems there. Our exes are considered our friends simply because we have children together. We knew that the children might be somewhat upset or might be excited and may want to talk about this with someone other than us. For this reason we told our exes. Mine was not happy at all, but I told him that I was telling him and not asking him. It has all worked out. Thank goodness we told his ex because his 16 yo is not having a very easy time dealing with it. She has had her mother to talk to and has just this weekend started to show signs of coming around. She is actually talking about it without us initiating the conversation. We were in WalMart and she was picking out baby clothes. It is not always bad to have the extra support. I do realize that this could have also worked out the other way. But thank God it didn't.

I did not want anyone to know about us even thinking about TR. People can be so overtly negative that it will send you into a tailspin.

My children, I have 5 (twins-28, son-15, daughter-11(was a twin), son-8), know and my mother knows. Outside of them I have only shared with the ladies in our home school group and they are all supportive, but telling the rest of my family...nah! Many of them wouldn't be very supportive. If we become PG, then they will know that I am PG and God is miraculous! That is all they need to know.

We all have someone we can share this experience with, other than our wonderful husbands, those that we CAN share with, ARE our family. [Wink]

We are scheduled for TR on 5/13!

I am so excited and my husband is an anxious wreck! [Frown] My poor honey. He isn't flying with me, because he has to care for our kids and work. Originally we had planned to drive our MCI9 bus cross country and homeschool the kids on the way, but the bus isn't ready to go...so...I am flying with my oldest daughter. We will arrive a few days early and do a little sightseeing, mother/daughter time. [Smile]

I am praying for you all in my daily prayer time. God bless.

Julie, you can click on the home button on this page and then click on pregnancy statistics and it will tell you what the success rates for Tubal Reversal are according to age groups and type of TL.... FYI

Hi Guys, I am almost 42 thinking of a TR. Mine were done with the bands which are the easiest to reverse. What are all these stats you talk about? Are there tests my OBGYN can run now to see how healthy I am to conceive even if my tubes are still tied? Also, I will be roughly 44 when I conceive.

Donna..I am hoping that you decide to go through with the TR! Even if you have 4.0 on each side, that is definately enough to get pg! Check the posts and you will see that women get their BFP with less than that! And, don't worry about the repair of the tube itself, leave it up to the capable hands of the Dr.'s at Chapel Hill. I could have went to a local Dr. but I wanted "the best" so we just went for it. I wasn't sure about the repair of one of my tubes but I wanted to do everything possible to try so I didn't think twice about it. I am also a glass half full type of person too, optomisim is a great thing......and it never crossed my mind that my eggs are too old! I'm sure there is a couple of good ones left! [Wink]

I will pray for you that all your tests come back with great numbers! I am sure that having good health and healthy lifestyle only increases our chances at our "age". It is definately a plus and brings up our chances for a BFP [Smile]

Wow, you are close to CH! That's great..that will be a quick trip for you when you decide.

My DH keeps me on my toes for sure...and keeps me young!

If you decide to go ahead with your TR, you might want to invest in a fertility monitor. It's the best thing I have ever bought. Takes all the stress out of trying to figure out your cycle. Shows your increasing fertility throughout the month...I love it.

If you would like to email me directly sometime to chat it's ryan.lisa@hotmail.com

Take care and good luck to you with your testing! [Smile]

Ryli (Lisa) Thank you for kind words on my family, I am a proud mama (and thanks too Cjomqobaby).

Congrats Lisa on your lengths...I don't know and I'm excited for you [Smile] I'll be lucky to have at least 4.0 cm lengths left, I had a fimbriectomy (fimbria fingers removed) on BOTH my tubes I've come to find out yesterday. So my chances are even slimmer, but I'm a gal half full type of person. Give me 10% chance, and it's better than the 0 I have right now.

I know exactly the feeling you have for wanting to give your man a child of his own, mine is awesome with my kids and never complains. He's as proud of them as if he was their father. It aches deep down to have this want..wow..more than anything I think short of the health for your children.

Your DH 34 and you 44...you go woman...I thought having a man 6 years younger but 10 years - I LOVE when I hear that [Smile] We older gals still have it....lol and my DF can't keep up with my energy level and he's 38.

You give me hope because I am normal on all levels as well, dont smoke, dont drink, never skipped a menses, straight 26 day since my 20's with big O on day 12 EVERY MONTH...lol. It made getting pregnant so easy before. People can't believe when I tell them my age (woman yesterday was 36 yrs old and thought I was younger than her..lol) but those dang eggs they keep telling you ARE your age...ugh..hate that!

I live in Mooresville, NC..just outside of Charlotte about 90 miles south of Chapel Hill. Been here for 10 years now, miss home though and Tim Horton coffee.

I meet with an RE (reproductive Endo) on April 13th and he's going to do all that testing for me and it's right around Day 3 of my menses, so should get good accurate accounts of ovarian reserve.

I will be watching the boards for your BFP [Smile] and saying a personal prayer for you. Keep in touch. I'm hoping to schedule my TR for May 8th [Smile]

Hugs, Donna

Hi Donna!! Yes, I did travel all the way from Sudbury to Chapel Hill for my TR on JAN 27th! It went great, and I came out with L 7.0 and R 6.5. Dr. Berger did my surgery, he is absolutely amazing, love him and the work he does! He said everything looked really healthy, no scar tissue at all and ovaries looked ovulatory!! So, things are really good.

I had another surgery right after the TR (on my hand) so last month was our first ttc and...I did get a + testat 13 DPO..but 2 days later it went negative. I'm pretty sure it was chemical. So, I think this is good news, at least I know the tubes are wide open!

The only testing we had done was a SA for my hubby since he has not fathered children before. He is 34 and in great health. I never thought to have any tests done for myself. I am super healthy, no health issues at all, don't drink/smoke/ eat right, weight is good....so I never thought to check on anything. I still have very regular periods so I do expect to be pg...hopefully sooner rather than later!!

You mentioned you were from Windsor..where are you living now? Have you scheduled your TR yet?

I turned 44 in December and although I wanted to have my TR earlier on, it didn't work out since DH was away at University for 3 years so...here we are, taking this leap of faith. I want to give him a child so bad it almost hurts. He has been the greatest step-dad that I could have asked for to my two kids...DD - 22 and DS - 17. I really really hope this works out for us... and all of us ladies here on the board!

Have you done testing for yourself yet, FSH..all that stuff?

We dont pay for caller ID on the landline phone, but of course the mobile phones have them and we use it! I think I just have really nosey and opinionated parents. Whatever they are, it's not enough to stop me from doing what we want. And I am glad there is a message board to share experiences.

Cayman, I will go see your pictures now. [Smile]

I haven't told anyone that I am working towards a TR which is why I love this board, you gals are my relief, my obsession, my venting, my sounding board and the whole 9 yards.
My DF is the only one that knows and he is supportive whatever angle or path we go down (baby, no baby, TR or IVF). I'm very lucky to have that. Even my OB/GYN office gals were acting like I was crazy, so why bother.
My family would flip as they did when my brother and his wife had twins at age 46. My DF family would be ecstatic so we can't tell them because it'd be such an awful let-down if we couldn't conceive. My DF doesn't have any children and this will be his first marriage (he's 6 years younger than me).
It is a personal decision and sometimes I want to share all with my older girls, but dealing with reactions is one thing I don't want to ADD to my plate of TR, TTC and the rest of it all.
So it's our secret (DF and me) and the rest of you gals on this board and of course CH when I finally get there.
Hugs to you all, Donna
I added pictures to put words to face and show off my brood, they're under my user name, CaymanDjay

Hi Lisa aka Ryli...I was 44 years old as well in January and have since turned 45. I wanted to see how your TR went (if you had it in January). I am originally from Windsor, Ontario Canada and saw that you were from Sudbury. Wow did you come all the way from there to Chapel Hill to have it done.

Let me know how things are going, we 40's gals have to stick together to get that BFP. I haven't scheduled my TR yet, doing all the other testing first to make sure I can even get pregnant anymore. Did you do any of that?
Thanks,
Baby Dust to you,
Donna

You go ChucksGirl! That is just how I feel about the sharing of such personal information. Some people seem to feel compelled to tell everyone from their teenaged kids to their neighbors. I only wish that we hadn't told after we got p/g because people STILL offered their opinions on TR! As for anyone needing to know where I am or what I'm doing, hello, we are adults and that is what caller id is for...I just don't answer the phone! TR & TTC can be a long haul and it's even more difficult when people with no right to do so are putting down our choices. Ok, I feel better now! Good luck to all however they decide to handle the decision on who to tell and why. [Smile]
