Sparky, sorry for the loss (even though you wanted no sorrows) but I wish you all the luck for the next try. You are definitely young enough to try again!!

Betty if you don't mind I would like to email you

Girls wishing you all a nice day.

Well, bad news ladies. I went to the Dr on Monday and he sent me straight to the ER. Was having cramps and back pain and miscarried. My husband and I are anxious to start trying again. We know that the next one will "stick". My husband is a St Patty's Day baby and definitely has the luck to prove it. My sister says that this was just a "primer" pregnancy to get my body ready. I am still in shock that I even got pregnant to begin with. Hopefully I still "got it" as I turn 42 on Friday and am feeling a lot of anxiety. Wish me luck, no sorrow and thanks for being there.

TANDT I think AMH, like Inhibin B are relatively new tests for ovarian reserve. Was yours extremely low or borderline? There are still ways for them to stimulate your remaining follicles, but it will take fertility meds (clomid or femara) in combination with injectable meds and alot of monitoring. These are all meds you would need to take going the IVF route as well. I would definitely discuss this with your doctor, preferably an RE. Good luck!

I will be 43 3 days after by scheduled tr(5/18). I would love to know if anyone has info on how to produce better quality eggs, due to my age? My FSH levels were fine, but my AMH levels were poor. Does anyone know about this? Is there still hope for a baby?

Good morning ladies.

Betty, I am so sorry. I know it's hard. I hope the RE can "dial" you in and you get more "good" eggs next time. We had pretty much the same problem, out of 14 follies, only 7 were good, and out of those only 4 fertilized. Of those 4, one had abnormalities, and the remaining 3 were slow growers. At 2 dpr, we transferred 3 embies which were 4 cells, and we got one beautiful baby boy out of those. I wish you the best.

Emmie, sorry for your troubles. I agree with Betty in that if you were planning harm, you'd probably already be here. It's frustrating. I hope things work out soon.

Lisa, I'd wait no longer than a couple of months, then go see an RE and have testing done to see if you might need to be a little more agressive. I was 37 when I had my TR, had great results on all my tests, and DH had a very good SA, but I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I had no unaided BFPs until 3 months AFTER I had my son, but that was apparently a chemical or something.

How many months after TTC did you ladies wait before starting testing to check hormone levels??

I have heard 3 months is the standard for "older" moms but the web site says it can normally take a lot longer....I'm asking from the perspective of someone with no known health issues at all (hubby with high SC).....I wouldn't want to wait too long, but I don't want to do any unncecssary testing/intervention....This is my 2nd month TTC - 5dpo and waiting.....and waiting! I am not going to panic for a bit but just wanted some input..

age 44
DH 34
DD 22
DS 17

Good Morning Ladies!

Just wanted to drop in quickly and wish everyone a Happy Easter! Going to enjoy the day with my 2 daughters. Jordan - my oldest daughter - heads back to college today - so we are sharing the morning together before she heads back.

Just spending the day appreciating the 2 daughters that I've been blessed with and being thankful for all that I do have!

Hope your day is spent with loved ones or just taking extra special care of yourself!

Hi Emmie!!

Always so good to see your post! Sorry to hear that the witch AF found you [Frown] That always suxs!
Sorry to hear about your difficulity getting back into the US. It's amazing how difficult they make it for some and not others. I know DF had to sponsor his soon to be son-in-law to get back into the US. He lives in Israel and came for an extended stay last summer and wanted to move here. Took tons of paperwork and more patience than DF had, but they finally were able to get back and settled in. Best of luck to you and if you need anything, please let me know. You can reach me at my screen name - at gmail [Smile]

RE said to call the office as soon as AF found me -- I've read where it can take a few days up to 2 weeks and of course the every woman is different saga. I had cramping last night - but who knows! Trying to stay positive of course in the interim I am eating really healthy and working out - so in the end that is good for me on its own.

Emmie - hang in there lady!!!!

Hope you ladies all have wonderful plans for a long weekend!

Happy Easter!
Take care!

Hi Ladies,

Congrats Sparky!! [Smile]

Sandra I read your post elsewhere and hope you are dropping in from time to time. Wishing you all the best on your journey and really wish happiness for you and your DH.

Betty I am sorry on your BFN on your first IVF cycle, it must be so hard to get your hopes up and then --bang-- back down to earth. However if at first you don't succeed try try and try again. I know easier said then done but at least your age is more in your favour than mine so good luck on the next try. When will you try again? About me packing my bags, I wish it was as easy as all that, it seems awfully hard to get into the USA unless you are a millionaire or a refugee and we are neither. We would be self sufficient and hard working on our business we like to set up but that is not enough I think. So if any of you know a way I would be all ears.

For me AF has just arrived [Frown] and that is as allways s--t. I feel a bit down because of that and the emigration issue so come on girls I need cheering up big time.

Hi Dawn,

RE decided on a 2 day xfer due to my age and that it had divided perfectly and he said he wanted the embryo back in a more natural environment.

We knew when we had out TR that our road would be a little more difficult because of our age - and it hasn't let us down in that respect.

Dr. B did a wonderful job on my TR - and my tubes are open - we have tried 2 IUI attempts and we signed up for 3 IVF attempts - hoping to get that BFP soon! I do accupuncture once a week and have been exercising regularly for a while and really watching what I eat - take my vitamins - yada, yada, yada..lol

When the time comes and we feel that we've exhausted all of our possibilites - we just want to be able to say that we tried everything that we could and did our best to make it happen. Along the way though - it can be frustating!!

Take care!

Betty, I'm curious to know, was there a reason why the doctor decided to do a 2day transfer rather than a 3day? I'm sorry that it didn't work this time for you. At least now he knows your "O" quicker than 36 hours, so hopefully he'll "catch" more eggs next time!

Afternoon Ladies,

Just received the call from our RE - we have a BFN [Frown] from our first IVF cycle. We had 18 follicles of size the day before our trigger shot - when we went in 36 hrs later - my body had started ovulating early and RE was able to retrieve only 3 eggs - 1 fertilized abnormally - 1 didn't fertilize at all and we had 1 perfect little 4 cell embryo that we transferred. RE said that the reason the ovulation started a little early was due to my age - gotta love that again!!

So today I am a bit disappointed but DF said we've made strides -- my eggs are able to be fertilized which he worried about - I can product decent size follicles and I am responding well to the meds -- now if we can figure out how to add that all up and come out with a BFP - we would be ecstatic [Smile]

My daughter is coming home for the Easter weekend from college - so that is good - she will help me keep my mind off of the disappointment!

We will wait until AF shows her ugly face and then go back in for IVF round #2.

Hope all of you ladies are doing well!!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend and share it with people that you love and take time to pamper yourself along the way!

Talk to you ladies soon!

congratulations sparky! I had my TR 4/14/08 and it will be a year next week for me. I am in my last month of actively trying. I am 42 and will be 43 in July. Another lady from 4/1/08 just got her first BFP also. Seems it takes a year for some of us! What date was your transplant? You should visit us in the Spring Chicks & Hot Mommas thread - that is where alot of your April TR sister are. Congrats and keep us posted on your pregnancy!
