I had a uterine fibroid removed that was just under the endometrium. My fertility specialist told me it was causing the heavy periods and could interfere with implantation if the embryo landed in the area of the fibroid. I would think that the same would apply with a polyp if the embryo tried to implant in that region. Hope this helps.

I was "diagnosed" with a uterine polyp during two different cycles and had a sonoHSG done both times to find out I didn't have one. The Dr did tell me that it could cause problems with implantation and bleeding between cycles. I never had either though, of course, I never had an actual polyp or implantation problems or bleeding between cycles. Good luck Karen

I didn't know it caused implantation problems. My dr told me not to mess with the uterus if I am trying to get preg. Maybe I should get a second opinion.

When I had my ultrasound at Chapel Hill they noticed I had a polyp in my uterus. It was pushing against the uterus and the uterus had a curve to it from the polyp. Dr. berger stated that it would not affect my fertility but to have a second opion

I have recently been diagnosed with a polyp. It is small and my ob doesn't think it is causing problems but if they are big enough they can cause infertility, heavy periods and cramping. They are doing another ultrasound on me next week where they shoot water in my uterus and they are able to check for more polyps or other problems.
