Go for it girl!!! I was the same age when I had it done. Had BFP's but no luck but so glad I did it if only to get rid of the PTLS symptoms. And you never know you might strike it lucky.

I am 45 and had my TR in May. I am soooooo grateful that I did. Mostly for the PTLS that I had been going through for the past 8 years, but also TTC. This is our 6th month. We will make the decision to have HSG after this month, not too sure about having it done though due to the iodine/dye. Was using EPO and SoyIsoflavones, but I noticed that I was having mood swings with it and took them both out of my protocol. Using BBT, charting, PreSeed, OPK's, decided not to use my CBFM this month, and using natural P4 at O.
I am happy for you that you decided to go ahead with TR.

Talked to my hubby....we've made our decision...we're going to go for it! Im excited! We figure its worth the chance...even if we only have a 1% chance of pregnancy!
Welcome to the message board. I am hopeful that you will find a lot of support here. I am thrilled that you are interested in having your tubes reversed, but urge you to do this sooner rather than later. At age 45 it will be more difficult to achieve a pregnancy and the longer you wait - the more difficult it will continue to be. Please contact our office with any questions - we look forward to working with you!

Thank you all so much for the encouragement! I too agree 6000....worth the gamble to me! If it works, and we conceive.....I will be thrilled. If it doesnt...well...at least we tried. It will be in God's hands anyway right? Just a ? for Jen...why would he suggest IUI...? after reversal? and how does that work?

Hi! I am 44 (turning 45 next August), and we are planning to have a TR in February (if we can still get a date once we have the $ in place). I decided to have bloodwork done to see where I stood. I had the Day 3 and Day 21 labs done and all were "within normal limits" except for the progesterone which was a bit low. So, I was referred to an RE who, as soon as I sat down, said that, although my hormone levels were good and did indicate ovulation, that they were, in essence, meaningless. My age, he said, was the most important factor, and obstacle, in our conceiving after TR. I knew my age was a factor but was hopeful that the other positives would help balance that. He was less than encouraging but did say that there was a small chance of conceiving and carrying a baby to term. He also said that he would support us in any way that medicine allowed and that if we did decide to go forward, he suggested ovulation induction coupled with IUI immediately after TR. That was enough for us. We are still committed to having the TR. What is it? A $6,000 gamble? Well worth it if we are successful. Right? And, if not =( then we will both at least know we gave it a shot. That said, we are very hopeful and have faith that we will be parents. I say go for it!

Well I had my TR done in 2004 had my first TR baby in 2006 16-days before I turned 40. Healthy happy little girl.
Now I just turned 43 and had my IUD removed. We are thinking about it and I suppose we should hurry up if we are. My husband is 40 Becca was his first.
Hey they say 40 is the new 20 so you are really only 25.

Yes, I know about the FSH and estradiol levels and I have been having them checked for the past several months. My doctor told me that I have about a 30% chance of pregnancy after my TR if my levels stay where they are. Lisa...??? did you have a baby yet?

Hi there....I had my TR this past Jan/09 at the age of 44 and I too will be 45 in Dec. I agree with what Anita said....I think it's really important to get the blood work completed prior to scheduling the TR. Things to get checked: FSH, LH and E2 and TSH for thyroid. Also, the SA for your DH is equally important. At least then you will know where you stand in terms of your ovarian reserve and you will be able to make a good informed decision...
I have heard of some having the TR first then working backwards getting the bw done (which is what i did because I didn't know about what should be done)...only to find out they are almost infertile. For me, I was lucky with my BW and it turned out to be ok. My hubby had the SA before the surgery but I didn't think I needed to do my part because i was healthy and had regular periods...but that has no bearing on your egg reserve or the quality of the eggs.....so please, please get those checks done first. At our age it is really important to consider this first before deciding!
Since you are over 40, you may want to consider having some lab work done to see if your body is still in the baby-making mode. FSH, inhibin B, and AMH levels all indicate ovarian reserve. You might even want to think about a semen analysis for him since he hasn't yet fathered a child.

I will be 45 in December. My husband is 43, and doesnt have any kids. We desperately want one! My periods have always been regular my entire life. I am in good health, have no health issues at all, other than I need to lose about 50 pounds. I have started to exercise to try to get that off, and get in shape. (is there a weight limit for the surgery?) I am teetering back and forth on whether to go ahead with it. I would like to hear from others in my age range who have done it. thanks.
