Hi kelly, I was wondering how you were doing!! Glad to hear your tubes are open! at least you still have that chance. We are starting to look toward adopting..I cant afford IVF, and even if I could, it would be hard on me emotionally/physically.So thats kind of where I am now..I just realize my chances really arent very good and I need to stop obsessing aobut the fact that I can no longer have children...I dont ovulate like I should, and the fimbriectomy repair is iffy all by itself, so Im kind of jumping ahead to adoption in my head lol.. Hope you get your BFP soon! One of the fimbriectomy girls needs to get pg !! Sending baby dust your way!! Blessings, Virginia

Hi everyone, havent been on here for awhile so I thought I would join back in on this topic. I had TR done on 3/31/06 still no BFP yet, had a HSG about 3 weeks ago and both tubes are wide open, and the HSG is not that bad just a little cramping, (and I am a chicken when it comes to pain )I had a Fimbriectomy also and Dr. Berger did a salpingostomy I ended up with tube lengths of 3.0 and 3.5. Good luck to all and hopefully we all get a BFP SOON!

Im sorry you are going through this number5...My left side may be blocked, its my shorter side though. I am waiting to get my films to send to Dr. Berger. Take care! Virginia

prayforamiracle apparently one of the nurses made a typo my fimbrae are not blocked. I do have the blockage on the right side unfortunately the longer side. The left side is only 4.5cm but open apparently. I remember there was mininal space between the fimbrae and the tube where they reanasthomed so I bet I would end up with a salpingostomy once he got in and actually saw what the tube/fimbrae were. Going to call the office and just double check because this discrepancy while human error was upseting to me. Still dealing with a blocked tube.

Wow, that was fast! thanks Dr.Berger, you really are the best! My ob is going to call me to discuss my results,so I will have him send you my films as soon as he can. Thanks again for the quick response! Virginia
I have found that some radiologist tend to "over-interpret" HSG findings. When dye does not enter the tube, the result is inconclusive since tubal patency was not actually tested. I agree with you that tubal spasm is the most likely explanation for that. Once dye enters and flows through the tube, tubal patency is proven. X-ray dye does not always spread throughout the pelvis.
I will look forward to receiving your HSG films and will contact you when they arrive here to give you my interpretation of them.
If the doctor perfoming the HSG put a tenaculum or clamp on your cervix, this is most likely causing the bleeding. If it does not stop by tomorrow, your gyn doctor should check on it.

well Im back from my HSG....results are iffy in my opinion...left side the dye didnt even go into the tube (2 cm side) so dr said it was completely blocked, I say it was a tubal spasm since I *should* have 2 cm tube and then blockage...the right side spilled but didnt "swirl" very much so he thinks its paritally blocked. I will send my films to Dr. B to look at for sure. all in all, I feel like some spill is better than none. when they put the catheter in he had trouble getting it in my cervix and that hurt like heck! I have been bleedning all day...heavy the first two hours after...anyone else experince this? so what do you all think? should I be upset about these results? Thanks in advance for any replies! Fimbriectomy is a type of ligation and resection procedure. During this type of sterilization, a segment of tube is tied with suture or clamped and cut out. Although this procedure is more aggressive than other sterilization techniques, it is still possible to become pregnant again after the tubal repair (30% - 40%). If you are concerned about overall tubal length, however, there are a few options: If your body mass index is less than 30, Dr. Berger can perform a screening laparoscopy just prior to the tubal repair to determine the amount of tube remaining or you can have an HSG (x-ray of the tubes). Both procedures allow us to better determine the amount of tube that is remaining.
There is an additional fee of $500 to add the screening laparoscopy, but this may be less expensive than the cost for the HSG and can be done at the time you are here for the tubal reversal. If we find during the screening laparoscopy that good lengths remain, we will go directly to the tubal repair. If the tubes have been badly damaged with minimal length remaining, we will stop the procedure and you will receive a significant portion of the total fee in refund.

Virgina, ANYTIME we have any surgery on our tubes, it increases the chances of e/p. Any surgery causes possible scarring and/or narrowing of the tubes. Also, and infections (PID) or STDs (like clamydia) which are common and can go undetected for a long time (or until your next pap) all can cause scarring and e/p later on. There is a lot of info out there on this. Dr. B says that he doesn't know if HSG helps prevent 2nd e/p. And since my #'s are going down finally, I will prob never know which side. I think a lot of women end up w/the salpingostomy. Good luck w/a quick BFP!! Sherrye

I don't know if that's the procedure I had. Dr.Berger told me that my fimbria was missing, so he peeled the ends back. I have got pregnant twice. First was a miscarriage, and now I'm due with #2 anyday. I think both of my tubes are working, because I got pregnant from each ovary. Yes, I know the tube can pick it up from the other ovary, but I choose to think they are both open. I was too chicken to have the HSG
I am 31 ..and it took us 10 months the first time to get pregnant...and 6 months the next time. My lengths were 3 and 4.

Sherrye, I am so sorry to hear about your loss! and as far as writing a book goes, no problem!Someitmes I write them too! If you do find out what side your E/P was on let me know..I think I heard that the chances of e/p was less with salpingostomy since there was no connecting spot for the pregnancy to get "stuck" in..hope I am making sense! so it would seem the chances of e/p would be about the same as someone who didint have tubal surgery? Take Care, and let us know how your HSG goes! Blessings! Virginia

Hello, I had my TR on Jan 19 06. Left side is 5.0, but he had to do the salpingostomy on that side. R side is 3.5. Had a BFP last mth, but am currently being treated for e/p. Getting an hsg when my #'s are zero. So, I know I did conceive...I do not know which side the tubal was on. THANKFULLY!, the u/s didn't pick up anything on either side, so I didn't have to go through surgery or rupture and lose a tube. WHOOPS!! Wrote a book..lol Hope this helps. Sherrye
