Wendy - Estrogen supplementation during the first 3 weeks of the menstrual cycle can help stimulate endometrial development. Ultrasound can be used to see how thick the endometrium becomes. The ideal thickness measurement is at least 6 mm at the time of ovulation or during the following week.

Wendylynn,

Dr. Berger answered this himself back in 2004:

Pregnancy is possible after endometrial ablation if you are still having heavy periods. Evaluation of the endometrium should be performed via vaginal US exam at the time of your LH surge (using an ovulation predictor kit) to determine the thickness of the endometrium, and a diagnostic hysteroscopy would also be helpful to determine if there are any adhesions or areas of scarring in the endometrial cavity.

If these diagnostic procedures indicate that the endometrium is normal, then it would be fine to consider tubal reversal surgery. If there are abnormalities resulting from the past endometrial ablation, then the probability of pregnancy would be low, and if pregnancy did occur the risk of pregnancy loss and/or complication increased.

I 'thought' I didn't want anymore children - but what I didn't want was children with HIM. I am ready to leap at the chance to have a TR, but have been unable to find information regarding pregnancy after ablation. I have been told by one TR Dr. that he feels since I am under 30 and my periods are just as heavy and regular as before the ablation, that I would have a good chance at a successful TR - But I am desperately wanting to find more information before I do anything. By the grace of an awesome GOD, I have finally reached a point in life where I CAN financially afford to go through with the TR if there is a 'chance'.

HTH,

Jo Ann

It's not a standard procedure. Usually done when cancerous cells are found or when periods are extremely heavy.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Hopefully there will be lots of encouraging news!!

I looked up why an ablation was done and one of the reasons listed was for 'when childbearing was complete.' Does anyone know if this is a standard procedure done during a tl???

Hey everyone. I had my t/r on Nov.20th'07. I found out I was pregnant on Feb.20th '08 then found out the heartbeat was gone on March 20th '08. I'm scheduled for a D&E in the morning. I went today for one last u/s just to confirm and my doctor realized I had an uterine ablation done several years ago and told me the chances of ever carrying a baby was pretty much impossible. Can anyone help me out here? Does Dr. Berger or any of the nurses know of anyway to build the endometrium back in your lining to carry a pregnancy? My doctor is suppose to be making some calls to see if there is anything that can be done. Keeping my fingers crossed for encouraging news.....Wendy [Frown]
