Tara is right..my TR was September 15th, and DH cut my suture knots day before yesterday....wow, that was a relief! My incision had started to itch a little bit, but once the sutures were 'released' the itching stopped... [Smile] I, too, have the 'healing ridge', but all's well and doing fine.

sal n luan--all of these ladies sound like they have "been there" and are offering correct information. Try to increase your activity slowly and please don't worry about bothering the doctor's. Here at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center someone is always available to talk to you or get a message to one of the doctor's. We wouldn't want to overlook something that was a problem. I really think you will be fine but make sure to call us if you have any uunusual redness, drainage, or fever at your incision site. The healing ridge is normal.
Feel better.

Your incision will feel sooo much better once you get the sutures out! I know for me, that's when I felt the most relief. The healing ridge will feel thick and raised for a while and then it will calm down and fade & eventually you won't be able to feel it at all. Hang in there and good luck!

Thanks for the advise, I will try that! My DH and kids are all pitching in to help out with the house work, even my 5 year old has pitched in and tucks me in bed at night! I can't wait to get back at it all, but I will try to take it easy. My 2 year old is confused as why mommy won't pick him up, (I have guilt!) but he's getting by okay - we snuggle on the couch. Thanks again for the advise.

AnitaA68,
Good advice! After my C/S, no one told me to hold a pillow and cough. Well, I ended up with fluid in my lungs and had to stay an extra day in the hospital. Everything turned out right, just wish someone would have told me.

Good morning ladies. It sounds like everything you all are experiencing is normal. I completely understand the wanting to pitch in. I hate sitting around. Just remember to take it easy, but some movement is good, that way you don't remain too sore for too long.

Sarah, when you need to cough, hold a small pillow or a stuffed animal over the incision site to brace it. If you need to cough, it would be best to do it and clear out your lungs so you don't risk a respiratory infection.

I hope you all feel better soon.

Hi all,
I haven't had my surgery yet, but what you are talking about sounds familiar. After an abdominal surgery, it is tender and sore for quite awhile. After my C/S, I was tender and sore for over a month. The burning is normal. If it is hot to the touch and you are running a fever, that is not normal.
Just hang in there and take it easy. One of the mistakes I made after my C/S was that I got up and did to much too soon. So after my TR, I'm going to take it easy! My DH has already informed me I'm doing nothing! LOL
Hope you all feel better soon!

Yes, I also feel a light burning at the incision.
It hurts the most when I sneeze.. but it will all be worth it in the end.

I had my surgery on Sept 22, and I'm still pretty sore. I have been surpressing the urge to cough for 4 days, and last night I had a coughing fit. It hurt so bad, I thought I had ripped my stitches. After it was over, I was fine, my stitches were fine, but I have this burning feeling on my right side if I move too quickly. I know it's all part of healing, but has anyone else had burning at their incisions? I too feel a ridge line just above my incisions. From all my previos surgeries I know that much is normal.

I had surgery two days after you and I'm in the same situation. The rain today has made my incisions sore. I think the worst part for me has been my breasts. They hurt like crazy!
