Good Luck Jen~~~~ We can't wait to meet Olivia
Amy- with the EPO you have to keep taking it for it to thin you all the way... I think I was almost complete when I took it there for making me go that night. Other March girls took it every night and with in a week they were having their babies... Try it again - I know it sounds yuck but I inserted two pills at night before bed and then let it do its magic... Good Luck and I hope you have this baby soon!!! It sounds like you are really ready and he is too.
Anita how are you doing???? in 10 days you too will be having your baby here!!! YEAHHHHH
Update on Talon- he is now 6 weeks old and I think we have a schedule- he eats every three hours and does about the same at night too. He smiles and coos a lot - LOves to be held and is a prefect baby-- Really!!! Never cries unless he is hungry and so good natured... I think this was by far my best PG, my easiest labor and easiest baby....
Lots of Love to you all and I love seeing all the pictures!!!

Wow Amy, I'm just really surprised. Do your contractions show up as strong ones on the machine when you go in? I'm wondering when he would decide that the labor isn't progressing. I'm so sorry this pregnancy has been a challenge.

well girls thanks for the suggestions. I have tried sex, nipple stimulation, pineapple, I tried putting EPO on my cervix, walking, climbing steps, swaying and squatting. I will try the breast pump. I am only nervous because my contractions are 5 minutes apart all day. I hate to think my contractions getting worse without dialating anymore. This is insane. I don't know what to think of my drs way of thinking either. I am just frustrated. If they would take the contractions away I wouldn't mind carrying him for 3 more weeks. I do enjoy the movement for the most part. All they would say is I am sorry your miserable but I can give you something to hewlp you sleep. I don't want to sleep. I want to give birth, darn it!!!! I don't think for a moment the baby is in any danger health wise. Many babies are born at 37 weeks and are very healthy. He has even had a boost with the steriod shot. If I thought for a moment that he was at risk I would suck it up and wait it out. After all an 8 pound baby at 37 weeks surely is healthy. He even said maybe your dates are wrong and you might only be 35 weeks. He doesn't want to take the chance of that. Is he freakin crazy? An 8 pound baby at 35 weeks? I DON"T THINK SO!!!!!
Well with that said I am exhausted! My dh is working late so I am home with 6 kids by myself. I just want to go to bed and forget this day happened.
Use of a cardiotocograph (CTG) during the third trimester to monitor fetal wellbeing is called a nonstress test. A positive (good) result is indicated by a reactive non-stress test. This means that the fetal heart rate increased (acceleration) by at least 15 beats per minute for at least 15 seconds at least twice during a 20 minute interval.[4]
Use of this machine during labor is called a stress test. When introduced, this practice was expected to reduce the incidence of fetal demise in labor and make for a reduction in cerebral palsy (CP). Its use became almost universal for hospital births in the U.S. In recent years there has been some controversy as to the utility of the cardiotocograph in low-risk pregnancies, and the related belief that over-reliance on the test has led to increased misdiagnoses of fetal distress and hence increased (and possibly unnecessary) cesarean deliveries.[5]
Biophysical profile is another test associated with CTG. It is often done when the non stress test is non reactive.

Amy, how frustrating!! I agree with Sarah. You could try some "natural" ways to induce. Walking is one. Nipple stimulation is another, as well as sex. The nipple stimulation causes contractions, so don't go overboard by doing it too much. I've read hot towels or manual or pump stimulation. As far as sex, the semen contains prostaglandins which soften and "irritate" the cervix, so I'm not sure how much of that you'll need. LOL Just lay down afterward for a period of time, and let it work. I'm not sure what's behind your doctor's thinking. It seems like he wouldn't want you all tired out.
Traci, Thanks. I think for some women it does happen quickly, but for me, it's still days afterward. I'm just excited to be able to see some progress.

Amy - I've heard of an old midwife's trick to help induce labor...and from what I hear it works (although I haven't tried it myself - but will with the next one). Breast-pump! If you have a breast pump, start by pumping (even though nothing will come out) for 1/2 hour. Then take a break for 1 hour and get up and move around or walk. Back to the pump for another 1/2 hour, and so on. Typically, labor will begin within 3-4 hours. Since midwives don't induce with pitocin, they try this technique with women when they are due or overdue. Pumping is natures way of forcing your uterus to contract (which is why it helps to breastfeed right after birth to help the uterus clamp down). I know every time I nursed after delivery, I could feel the uterine contractions. If your tired of being pregnant and will try just about anything...why not give it a try...it definitely can't hurt anything! Good Luck - Sarah

well ladies, I'm back. and let me say not with the news I expected. They did the ultrasound. Fluid is at 13. which is lower than its ever been. Baby weighs over 8 pounds already. I know that ultrasounds can very a little bit but with me gaining 7 pounds in less than 3 weeks I think they are prettty close. I haven't changed anymore. I am still at a 2. They also said that they won't induce until 39 weeks and only then if my cervix has changed. I had to be induced with the others so I don't hold out much hope now for going on my own. I was a little relieved going in this morning with the hope of knowing that I only had 12 more days til I was 39 weeks only for them to crush that hope. The only thing they will do is give me sleeping medicine to calm me down.
Well I am off to the couch. I am exhausted and sore as can be. My contractions are 5-6 minutes apart.

Jen, I'm so excited for you- tomorrow Olivia gets here! whoohooo! I can't wait to see pics of her! GL w/ recovery- hope its easy peasy for you!
Nellie- NST= non-stress test where they monitor fetal heart rate and compare to fetal movement and maternal contractions. You are likely to get them at the end of pg depending on age, fetal activity (or lack thereof), or other conditions such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. HTH!
Amy- you poor thing, that baby just keeps psyching you out!
Anita- wow, I think I heard that labor usually starts w/in 24 hours of bloody show! GL!!
