Hi ladies.... well I had a HSG test today.... my right tube is open and flowing great and my left tube is closed... my hormone levels were really good... so kinda a depressing day but the doctor said not to give up... it just will take a little bit longer to get pg... but my man will have to have a sperm anayalsis done as well...as he has never fathered a child...
SO if left tube blocked and i feel when i ovulate if i ovulate on the left side can the right tube pick it up and can i get pregnant that way... thanks liz

I hadn't had a BFP since my TR going on two years. Finally RE got aggressive with shots, Femara, and then IUI.
Right tube was blocked HSG results. (?)
After all shots were done, had u/s to see if I had follicles - only one on my right ovary. RE said NO SEX - don't want you to have an etopic this month.
Didn't listen BD that night. Sure enough on CD26 I tested instant BFP.
Rebecca Jordan born 10/04/06 8lbs 12oz. Was the egg picked up by my left tube, or was my right tube really open. Don't know? Will remain a mystery probably, unless I decide to try this one more time.

The ovary and the tube are not attached. When the ovary releases the egg it is picked up by the finger like projections on the end of the tube and then it enters the tube. The tubes are not fixed and they move some, which is why one tube can move to the opposite ovary and the egg is picked up by its finger like projections (fimbria)

But is it the same if you have a BLOCKED tube. I still have my tube but it is just blocked. I am trying to picture it...how does it move to the other side, isn't it IN the tube?

I am not a nurse but I kind of have an answer. I have a tr baby that will be 1 on 11-9-08 I o'd on my right side but I lost my righ tube due to an e/p. My understanding is that the tube is not attached to the ovary it just has little fingers that grab the egg and the left tube can grab an egg from the right ovary

When an egg is released by either ovary, it can be picked up by either tube. It is more likely to be "picked up" by the tube that is on the same side where ovulation occurred, but it is possible through either.

Have a question for you.. You said "Even with your right tube blocked, it is possible to become pregnant through your left tube if you ovulate from your right ovary."
How? If your tube is blocked how does anything get through or does it never go near your tubes until the egg releases and all?? sorry Im just confused.
