It's a great read, not only for ttc but for informational purposes as well. I'd recommend it for anyone wanting to do NFP as well.
As far as becoming obsessed - welcome to ttc after TR. I think it's addicting! Some ladies are still pretty controlled about it, but most of us are or have been pretty obsessive at some point or another!

Lorrie, I forgot to tell you. I used the Clearblue Easy OPK and Answer OPK. The Answer brand is several dollars cheaper than Clearblue Easy, and in my opinon, just as good. I ran out of Clearblue Easy the first month using them with no surge detected. I had started testing a little sooner than I should have. I had been 9 days late for AF after TR, and I had been days early the cycle before TR. So I wanted to MAKE SURE that I tested soon enough that I would not miss the surge. Then I used Answer brand detecting surge on the first day of using after running out of Clearblue Easy tests. So, I've used Answer brand for the last two cycles and perfectly happy with it.

Hi Lorrie, I had my TR on Oct. 3. Congratulations on your TR. I know you are excited about TTC.
It takes a little while to get to feeling totally normal again. The first few days you'll find that you move around quite slowly and slightly bent over. After several days you should be able to move around a little faster and standing more upright. I had cramps from the time I woke up from surgery that lasted for a week or so--not unbearable or anything, but a dull crampy feeling did linger for a little while.
I'd say it was probably a couple weeks or more before I felt back to normally with no 'feelings' or dull cramps from time to time.
Just take it easy and don't overdo it, whatever you do! Listen to your body. If you feel it's something you should not do, then don't do it.
We didn't try to prevent pregnancy the month of TR, but didn't try to prevent it either. We didn't really expect a BFP. So, counting the month of TR, we've been TTC for 3 months now.
I'd definitely recommend using the OPKs as suggested by CHTRC. They aren't difficult to use and understand. It may take you the first cycle or two to get use to using them and reading them, but they will pinpoint the LH surge and then you should ovulate shortly afterwards.
Some women use the monitors, they temp, and chart. I don't do those things---as of yet, lol..hoping my OPK will be enough.
I wish you the best of luck in everything. You take it easy and give yourself time to heal. You'll be TTC before you know it.

I agree with Tanya..I got my monitor brand new and still sealed from ebay at very little compared to what they cost new. It came with 30 strips, too, which saved me a bunch. It's working like a charm, so far...

Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book that goes into great detail about charting, cm, ttc and almost every aspect of anything about trying to have a baby. There are even chapters about testing and issues should that arise, as well as natural family planning and other concerns.
As far as OPK's, I used Target brand and CVS brand with success. They were both a bit cheaper than some other brands.
I'd also recommend a ClearBlue Fertility Monitor. I found it most useful as it really narrows down that fertile window for you with no guesswork at all. You can get them cheaper on ebay and you will still have to have sticks for the monitor but many ladies, including myself - found it invaluable during ttc.

I have used the answer brand opk twice...and detected the LH surge twice. I just used one today and it is definately positive. yesterday it wasn't. so we will be BDing for the next 3-4 days. BD'd last night too because the line was getting darker. Hope we catch that lil egg! Good Luck

smuckers - Don't be suprised if ttc this time around is a little more difficult. Most of the ladies, including myself were able to get pg very easily before TR. Part of that is that you were younger and more fertile. As the years pass it makes getting pg tougher, and sometimes keeping a pg harder too. Either way - like I mentioned before everyone here is happy to help at anytime in any way they can.
Good luck on picking the gender. I hope you get the girl your hoping for!

thank you everyone for the encouragement. i have been reading a book about trying to pick the sex of your child. our main drive behind the tr was the fact that we have three boys. so we are really hoping for a girl. the book however has a lot of good information. i am hoping that my fertility comes back just as strong as it was before. i never had to "try" to get pregnant. i love that they have this message forum to put me in contact with ladies in my situation. thanks everyone

My experience with TR was the best! Only a little uncomfortable at times during that first week after, but it was one of the easiest surgeries I've ever recovered from. (Easier than a trip to the dentist; which I loathe). I was a bit stiff and swollen, but otherwise, just take it easy and don't overdo and you should do just fine. Worst part for me was the 'healing itch' that went on...drove me crazy, but I just put some Vitamin E on the incision and it stopped the itching...Good luck!

Hi,I had my TR done on the 5th Dec and TTC by about day 6, was a bit apprehensive but was comfortable so went ahead. As for getting back to normal activity, with the prospect of step kids arriving for Christmas on the 15th Dec I was busy Christmas shopping on days 7 & 8 after the procedure. I was extremely tired but apart from that OK. Good luck x
