I know that it all depends on when implantation takes place. Your body will not begin producing HCG until then, which is what HPT's monitor for. The average day of implantation is 7-10 DPO, so it is note likely that you would get a BFP prior to then. It also depends on the sesitivity of the test.. some can test for as little as 20mlU HCG level. You would have to check the particular test instructions to know for sure.
As with everything regarding fertility, each woman is different. Some may implant earlier, some later. Just know that any BFN prior to a missed AF and possibly even after is inconclusive and you may need to retest.
On another note, I have a question as well. I am DPO 9. I am not expecting AF until 1/8/09. I have been having very sharp cramping type pains today. Could this be a sign of implantation? or is it possible that it is still related to post-op healing? (had TR on 12/10/08)

Lorrie, It is not recommended for you to test before your missed AF. Testing too early and getting false results can cause unnecessary anxiety. Think of it as a present that you can't wait for-don't peek! Fran, RN

it has been quite awhile since i have had to test to find out if i was pg. almost five years. so, my question is how soon can we test? i know when i O'd and when the next AF is due. I am just impatiently waiting lol! so, i wanted to see how soon other people have tested and were able to get a BFP? I know the likelihood of it being P is low this cycle since i just had my TR on 12/19 but that does not change the fact that I am very hopeful. Thanks Ladies! Lorrie
