Hey Anesia,
That's awesome your tube lengths are that high, your angel is watching out for you.
I got your email and sent you one back, thanks [Smile]
I'll have to check to make sure it went through now because I sent it from my Blackberry and the thing isn't working properly (its about to have a love affair with the wall).
Thanks for that info, I looked it up on CH website and found the 10cm AFTER I posted this...dummy me.
I'll log onto my yahoo account and resend that email I sent you just in case you didn't get it.

I'm still wondering from other Fimbriectomy TR patients how much of their remaining tube was required to repair and fold over for their TR.

I have read that on this board that what really was removed or done at initial TL isn't what they did at all. My OB said in his OR report that he removed both fimbri ends, but the pathology says that one section removed was 3.5 by 2 cm (centimeters) and the tube section was 3.5 x 2 mm (millimeters). Since the fimbria end of our tubes are the widest part of the tube it makes sense that it would measure 2 cm wide and not mm wide..so who knows really what the doctor did when doing my ligation.
MY HSG is being done tomorrow so I guess that in itself should tell a story (I hope).

Hi CaymanDJay,

The average fallopian tube length is 10 com or 4 inches. Many times the doctor removing the fallopian tube during a sterilization procedure will indicate in the operative report the amount of tube that was removed. We then like to confirm this amount with the pathology report, which measures the actual tissue samples received. When fimbria are removed as well as the fallopian tube, a procedure called a salpingostomy is preformed. This is a little bit different than just putting the two ends of the falliopian tubes together. A new opening will be created. Please review http://www.tubal-reversal.net/salpingostomy.htm to get a better understanding.

Donna, I think the ususal length is 10cm per tube. It depends on what type of TL you had and how much tube was damaged to determine tube length post TR. I had a bipolar cuatery done and approximately 2cm were suppose to have been removed, but after my TR Dr. M said they didn't remove as much as they said and I ended up with 6.5cm R and 5.25cm on the left. Hopes this helps. Oh yeah, I sent an email to your yahoo account.

What is an average woman's tube lengths BEFORE one had a Tubal Ligation?
I keep reading on here that women had 2.5 and 1.8 removed for TL and wonder how some women end up with only a 1.0 or 2.5 length AFTER TR. I realize some of that is lost in the repairing of tubes and joining back together.

I guess I am asking because I had 3.5 removed from each tube (fimbriectomy) and am curious how much tube is required to 'correct' this situation and can't find the answer anywhere in my research and of course being the research geek I am, thought maybe my TR sisters might know this answer or one of the doctors could chime in.

xo Donna
