Dr.B - Thank you for your response but please don't go through the trouble of finding that info because I am confident that I will do well after surgery when my time comes because I have a high tolerance for pain. I was just curious because I haven't seen anyone mention it in any of the posts.

Thank you to everyone else for your response as well.

Seriously, unless your pain tolerance is VERY very low this surgery is not bad at all. I can't imagine having to use a TENs unit after your TR. The pain is very managable.

We have not used the TENS units in several years. Many patients did not send the units back and they were expensive to replace. But in response to your post, I will see if there are some inexpensive and disposable units that we might be able to find. With the improvements in local anesthetic techniques used during the surgery, we have found that most patients would not actually need a TENS unit.

I have a tens unit for my back...I can't imagine it would be effective post op for pain management. I've never seen that used before. It basically fires electrical pulses to the muscle to "exhaust" it and then it becomes relaxed. That's interesting that it was used with surgery.

The pain from the surgery honestly isn't that bad...it's more soreness than anything. Blessings to you...

LaShon, this video is a few years old and I'm not sure that the TENS unit is still used. I will check with Dr. Berger.

I was watching the TR video and I noticed that Dr. B used a tens unit to help with pain. I wanted to know if anyone used this and if so, did it help the pain and were you able to take it back to the hotel room with you?
