I used to not understand why people had to make sure they urinated after BD, but once I started having such terrible UTI issues then I totally understood.

yeah, dr. said to go right afterward to help prevent UTI. Those fishies are strong and, like salmon, their only goal is to swim upstream to the spawning ground! LOL
Sometimes I will wait a few minutes and sometimes I go right away. When we conceived our last I would go quickly and then lie down with my pelvis elevated by pillows for about an hour, just to help those little fishies swim upstream. LOL

I dunno, but one of my fertile days, after BDing totally forgot to stay put. I jumped up and used the bathroom just as I usually do. If I wasnt so tired I would had DH do it again! Although, my son was conceived while standing in the shower (sorry TMI) so obviously he made it up stream.
I was having such a terrible time UTI's at one point I made sure I went right before and right after.

what I read is that the sperm are shot up so far that it is ok to get up after BD because by then the little guys are already on their way to the prize...haha

Holy wow! That's a lot of little fishies... you know the more i read and am in the process of TTC i wonder how i ever got pg even 1 time, with this small window of opportunity we have, or how anyone does... and then you read something like that, and now i wonder how do you not, LOL. O my goodness, i can't believe how confused i am! :0) I feel like a pre k school girl in high school learning about ttc. It's so overwhelming.

Ok ladies hopefully im not telling you wrong but from what my dr told me when I was trying to get preg with kyle (when i has art insem? I guess it was called or iui??) he went over some facts. I also looked up a lil because i knew it was a fluid but still couldn't think of what kind lol..
But anyways that's totally normal. It is semen that is leaking out, very little sperm leaks out with it.. Nearly all of the sperm stays inside. (semen is the fluid that sperm mix with and it is thinner than the other stuff so its natural to leak) So most the stuff leaking out of you is just the semen, with prob very little sperm but remember it only takes one sperm to become preg and when a man does his thing there are over (i read) 50 million sperm are discharged during just one ejaculation in a normal healthy male.

I just ended up with a UTI this month due to the fact that I didn't get up and go to the bathroom after sex. I didn't want to risk it, but now I'm paying for it! The doctor prescribed Cipro, but I am in my 2ww so he gave me Amoxicillin instead.

I know it sounds silly, but im afraid to do anything afterward, LOL. Thanks for asking this question, it's a really good one, that a lot of us probably wonder about and no one asks, LOL :0)
