As with most things, it probably depends on the individual and what is going on with the body that we don't really know without looking in to it more, BUT....LOL I did several rounds of clomid and my lining wasn't excessively thinned.

We don't have RE's in Canada, we only have OB/GYN's and the wait for one of the Dr's with a good reputation is about 9 months so...that's too long of a wait so we just decided that we would do everything else we could, naturally and hope we get lucky. At my age, there isn't much that can be done and I can feel my window of opportunity closing in.
DH doesn't want to do the IUI or have me go through agressive testing....I've already had the FSH, HSG done and we are just hoping we catch a good egg.....I don't even want to calculate what the odds are of me conceiving...
I just wanted to do the Clomid Challenge test to get a better idea of my numbers, but the Dr. went and gave me another prescription....so I was thinking of doing it a second month and that's it.....I didn't think i needed to do all the other stuff along with it..
I know you guys have a lot of experience with this and I thank you so much for your help but i just feel it's too long of a wait to see the specialist and start doing all the tests/monitoring months and months from now after i turn 45.
We really should have started ttc sooner but life got in the way..

I agree with Anita. If you are going to do the clomid, you need to make sure it is actually working for you, otherwise you are just using hormones unnecessarily, which isn't good. He can do a follicle check about CD 12 (or a few days before you would normally ovulate) to make sure you have at least one mature one developing. And you should have a progesterone level done at 7 dpo to make sure you had a "good" ovulation. Without that monitoring, you just don't know whats going on. Talk to him and see if he will do the monitoring with your next cycle of clomid. But like Anita said, hopefully this cycle worked for you and AF will stay gone!

No, I'm not....I couldn't get an RE...too long of a wait to get in so i asked my family Dr. if I could do the clomid challenge test and he prescribed me 2 mths instead of one. And...I got wrapped up in something and didn't end up doing the CD3 testing!! If you can belive that! Crazy..!
So now i'm trying to decide if i want to use the 2nd month of it to do the Clomid test. My Dr. does not know much about fertility stuff....although if i ask him for testing - HSG and bw for FSH etc..he has done that for me.
I don't really know what to do right now. At my age (44..45 next mth), I don't think its good to use Clomid for long.

ryli, are you being monitored while you're taking it? Monitoring is very important with clomid, to asses the lining as well as the number of follicles you have.

no worries Anita, thanks for the info...I'm not discouraged...I just wanted to be realistic about the whole thing.....it's most likely the Clomid making AF late... I can deal with it...it's something i'm getting used to unfortunately....
I'm just not sure if i should do another month if it didn't work this month...worried about my lining...

I guess there is no point in having false hope so thanks for letting me know that Clomid causes a late AF.....I'd rather count myself out at this point than start believing that its a bfp and be let down...again......9 mths and no bfp

Clomid does make your cycles a little longer usually, but that's the way it's supposed to work. It interferes with the release of FSH(follicle stimulating hormone). If taken CD3-7, it helps to produce more follies, if CD5-9 it helps follies mature. So, O may be delayed because your body is working harder on the follies.
