I was fine once they put me on PTU. My hair is great now. They said it was hyperthyroidism but I was gaining weight so fast and I felt like I was steamrolled by a mack truck. I had no energy, heart palpitations, dry skin, heat intolerance. I am fine now though, thank God!

Hi. I am in the process of having my thryoid tested so this helps. JoyWV, I am curious as to what you found out about your hair - I have been having that problem the last couple of months and it seems to be getting worse! I feel like 40 going on 60.

Thyroid peroxidase test is a test that measures the level of an antibody that is directed against thyroid peroxidase (TPO).
Autoantibodies to thyroid peroxidase (TPOAb) are produced within the body. The presence of TPOAb in the blood reflects a prior attack on the thyroid tissue by the body's immune system.
Normal level is <60. If yours is less than 10, then you are fine.

I have Graves and I really dont know the normal values, but you could probably Google something or check THYROID/ENDOCRINE/METABOLIC websites. I found those helpful when my hair was falling out and I had palpitations. Just a little heads up. Does your report say what their labs normal values range from?

TSH 1.56 is within normal I believe the range is .50 to 5.0. you can call the lab or the dr office and ask what the ranges are. did they test the T3/T4 or Free T3/T4?
