I have been trying for 6 cycles = 5 months with no luck. I am going to try for a HSG next month if no luck this month. I am looking at what option I would have if they are blocked so I ran across this tubal recanalization and thought maybe this would be an option if blocked tubes is the case at hand. I am hoping for the best...

I know we spoke earlier by email, but give it some time! Your body is still healing and getting back into a rythym. And we ALL think we will be the one to get preggo 1 cycle ttc after tr [Big Grin] Once in a while that happens...it was just their turn, not ours! Try not to worry so much about it the odds are in your favor. Kim [Smile]

I am sorry to hear that Melissadana...i know how it feels to have your dream shattered [Frown] I was told it depends what kind of blockage their is and where it is in the tube...I think I got lucky that one tube was open, it just had a little of that filmy scar tissue on it, but it is still iffy. [Confused] My left tube is blocked though, I would have to have a repeat tr if I wanted that one opened. It is not a procedure that Re's openly suggest (IMO) - I think they prefer IVF, but we happen to have a very compassionate RE who was in tune with what we want.

TLC - I have been reading a book called "The Compassionate Guide to Overcomming Infertility" by Dr Jansen and he explains how scar tissue forms. I don't have it with me at the moment, but I can post later how he explains it. Alot of woman, after 6 months of ttc with no pregnancy, have an HSG done (where dye is passed through the uterus into the tubes while they xray them to see if it flows throught the tubes, thus detecting if the tubes are open or blocked). Sometimes they do a laparoscopy in addition to hsg, but the hsg is better to determine the conditions INSIDE the tube, I think. Do you have blocked tubes? Kim

Hi LadyStorm [Smile] I had a regular hsg in March that showed left tube blocked, right tube flowed but no spill. RE suggested IVF, but that is not an option for us. My RE then found a wonderful Dr of Interventional Radiology (they do alot of heart attery work too, I think)who did a selective salpingogram or tubal canalization - it is called both. The left is blocked for sure but the right just had peritubal adhesions over some of the fimbria (scar tissue like thin plastic wrap)and he cleared that away and thre was spill. There is always the possibility that it would regrow, but I am praying that it didn't...

I am not sure of the cost, my insurance paid for it - you would have to check with your insurance and with the qualified docs in your area. It is very similar to hsg - they go all the way up into the tubes with the catheter and then use a wire to try to make a new passageway for the egg. The pain is very similar to hsg too and the procedure takes longer, but it is done in a hospital (at least mine was) where they have that big honkin xray machine. They put an iv in you just in case you need pain meds or light sedation - I didn't have either...but I prayed alot of Our Fathers and Hail Marys [Wink]

If you have any other ?'s I will try to answer them based on my experience. You casn email me privately at bertha926@aol.com also. Best wishes, Kim [Smile]

Hi, I read where if you have blocked tubes, this is a procedure that can be done at the office with the same material they would use for a HSG. Is this something anyone has done after finding they have blocked tubes? How much does it cost? Is this procedure done by a fertility specialist or a gyn?
