You will be fine!
I was scared too, I didn't have dh with my, my S'inlaw was there because DH had military obligation. I was REALLY scared:)
I took this little stuffed monkey with me, I am sure someone on staff has to remember me because of the monkey:) Anyway when my turn came to go back the nurse taped the monkey on my shoulder and it was right there when I woke up. Now that is SPECIAL treatment:) I thought I must be the biggest baby in the biggest baby in the world, but no one even batted an eye at the site of a grown woman (39) with a death grip on her stuffed monkey:)
That was 9/10/07 I am now 10 wks pregnant, I have seen my little bean move and heard it's heart beating and there is no fear I would not endure for the sweet joy of the blessing I am now carrying.

Linda, Just call them again!!! That's what I did and they didn't mind a bit. They really are very gracious people. Again, I've had dr.s in the past who employed very grumpy people and when you called their office 2 ask a ?- it was as if you were putting them out or bothering them. Not the case here. AND it's natural to be afraid, I think most of us were, BUT don't ever let FEAR stop you from doing what you need to do. If you let it stop you once, you run the risk of becoming a slave to it. There is much in the world that we could legitimately be afraid of. For me, the only way I know to conquer fear is to turn to Jesus. "God has not given us a spirit of fear . . . . ." " . . . Perfect love casts out fear . . . . " This is were my hope is found.

I 'm a bit concerned, I have not heard back from Dr. Berger's office yet and it's been 2 days. I think maybe it has to do with the fact that they are Eastern time and I'm Central time. YA THINK? I don\'t mind the insight at all in fact I VERY much appreciate your response. I have an 9 month old granddaughter and my daughter keeps telling me why am I going to do this , that I'm a grandmother now, and shouldn\'t worry about having more children. I young you guys I'm 35 just turned 35, my doctor(OB/GYN) tells me oh you can still have. and i just got remarried in September of 06. We want children.
I appreciate EVERYONE'S respinse and comments. But to be honest that's my fear is the" being put to sleep"

It is quite normal to have concerns prior to surgery and anesthesia! Fortunately, our anesthesia team is the best. Our two board-certified anesthesiologists and registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) specialize in outpatient anesthesia and have more than 50 yeas of combined experience. When you schedule your surgery, one of the anesthesiologists will call you to discuss your history and our specific anesthesia plan.

Best wishes,

Julia Smith RN

I had my surgery on feb 11th and we stayed a couple of extra days in the hotel but thats because we had to fly home to England, but even the day after i was in Chapel hill having breakfast and buying jewellery! I was a bit nervous about the transatlantic flight home but I took the meds and slept nearly all the way home. I really wouldnt worry, im a bit dodgy with anaethestics but even with my dodgy blood pressure I was fine and the nurses really were lovely and VERY professional.

Linda,
Sorry it took so long! I just saw this post again. When I woke up it was a very natural feeling. Just like waking up in the morning. My husband was there with me and Dr. B. was there and told my my lengths. It is a little fuzzy remembering now, but not too bad. I felt surprisingly good the day of the surgery. The day after I was a more sore. We drove up from Florida and had a long drive home but I just took my meds as instructed and got out and walked several times. I hope this helps put your mind at ease!

I just wanted to say that I have had MANY surgeries prior to the TR and this one by far was the easiest for me to wake up from after the anesthesia. Usually I have always had a hard time waking up, feeling really groggy, and keep falling back asleep. My DH said I woke up with a smile on my face and there were only a few minutes of foggyness while waking up. It was very quick for me and within minutes I asked if I could get up and go to the bathroom.. LOL Everything went very quick and smooth. I'm just over 2 weeks post-op and I feel better than ever. I hope everything goes as well for you too!
PS I took lots of pictures for anyone to see... I thought that might help for those that are unsure that CHTRC is for real.. [Wink] LOL
HTH
Have a great day!

Linda, I know you posted the ? for lucky pj- but if I could give you an answer too ---- Coming out of the anesthesia was the easiest wake up from surgery I've ever had. It was gentle and calm, nothing like in a hospital where you here other people moaning in pain. . . .Ugh! I hate that!!! I've been under a few times and I remember thinking this time, wow, that was quick and easy!! It really was an 'easy' experience. CHTRC really is the best, they have it down to a science & because they do this regularly, you'll benefit from their experience. Plus, they make themselves available for questions at ANY point after your procedure. Try to find a family dr. or regular MD who would do that???? It just doesn't happen anywhere else. HTH

God Bless,
Lisa
